A simple to use and practical application that extends the usability of the speech recognition capabilities in your Windows Vista operating system

editor's review

Windows Speech Recognition Macros is an application designed to enhance the functionality of your computer by allowing you to create macros that are voice activated.

Installing the application is a breeze. During installation, the only “complicated” thing you have to do is select the type of device you use for voice input. After that, you read a test text to make sure that your microphone works and you’re good to go.

The application resides in the system tray and remains invisible throughout its use. You access it by simply right clicking on its corresponding icon and choose what you want to do.

What you can do is add a new macro, edit an existing one or browse through the already created ones. With this application you can create speech macros that insert text into a designated field, run a specific application that is installed on your computer and even record keystroke commands.

If you are an advanced user, Windows Speech Recognition Macros allows you to insert XML and create complex speech macros.

Interface wise, Windows Speech Recognition Macros is as user-friendly as it can get. The main window only displays the type of macro that can be created along with a short description. There are no complicated settings to get lost into.

The application also offers you a three step security feature that allows you to choose whether macros are checked for a digital signature before they are run.

It’s easy to see how Windows Speech Recognition Macros can certainly increase your workflow and eliminate the tedious, repetitive everyday tasks.
