Softpedia Editor's Review for CS Fire Monitor
|
A complete system monitor application for your computer.
Written by Bogdan Popa on January 9th, 2012
CS Fire Monitor is a software solution supposed to monitor every single part of your system, including CPU, drives, hardware, bandwidth, software and network.
The application isn't only a full-featured system monitoring utility, but also one that's able to create complete reports on all these tools, along with graphs and detailed statistics.
The interface may seem a bit clunky at the first glance and it probably is, but it still takes just a minute or two to figure out how to use the program. All features are nicely organized in tabs, so you have “Monitors”, “Reports”, “Settings” and “Help”.
The “Monitors” section provides an impressive number of subcategories, including bandwidth, CPU, drives, hardware, IP, memory, NetStats, processes, services, software, tasks and templates. Each of these come with tons of details, so clicking on CPU for instance shows the vendor ID, CPU name, type, family, model, brand, stepping and serial number, current speed and real time speed.
Reports can be generated by category, with a dedicated tool to auto save them in any of the four formats available: HTML, TXT, ASC and CSV.
Another tool that may come in very handy is the so-called “mini monitors” that show a tiny bar above the System Tray with specific information on CPU speed and usage, available memory and network traffic. Information is updated in real-time, so you can easily keep an eye on your system.
CS Fire Monitor remains light on computer resources all the time and works on all Windows versions.
Overall, it's no doubt CS Fire Monitor is one of the best tools of its kind out there, but some areas simply need to be improved. The interface comes with some program colors options, but a more user friendly and eye candy interface is definitely a must.

What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]
· removed shadow options and fade in and out options as they would just take up resources. This program is meant to take as little as possible out of the system. So to me these options are pointless, and thus now removed.
· added option to bandwidth mini monitor to show total for all connections, not just the selected one. Also any connection that is set not to be stored in the database will be skipped in combining speeds. Example: I have 3 network connections on my system, 2 internet and 1 LAN. I only want to monitor the speeds of the 2 internet ones and I could care less about the lan connection. Under bandwidth settings I set the lan adapter to not be stored in the database. Then under mini monitor settings I have it combine all speeds. Now since the lan was not being sotred in the database only the 2 internet connections will be combined. This DOES NOT affect the main monitor and graph, this only affects the bandwidth mini monitor. Also the progress bar of the mini monitor is afftec...
