Scanner is a tiny and portable application that shows you a unique graphical representation of the files which are taking up the most space on your hard disk. It can be effortlessly used, even by individuals with little or no experience in software programs.
Thanks to its portability, installation is not a prerequisite. You can just drop the executable file anywhere on the hard drive and run it.
Otherwise, you can copy Scanner to a USB flash drive or other storage unit, and run it on any computer without prior installments. You can check the HDD status of any computer.
What's more important is that no items are left behind on the hard drive or in the Windows Registry after program removal.
Upon launch, Scanner automatically scans your computer for large files and displays them in concentric circles, so you can easily tell them apart by colors. Hovering the mouse cursor over a particular circle reveals the folder path, total size and total containing files.
You can perform an automatic scanning procedure on individual local drives, zoom in and out of the picture, as well as access the Add/Remove programs section in Control Panel to make the necessary adjustments and remove programs that you no longer use and which take up too much space on the disk.
On the other hand, you cannot export the image to an external file or get a full statistical report on these large files. Scanner uses a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't put a strain on the computer's performance. It takes a reasonable amount of time to finish a scan job, depending on the size of your hard disk. Scanner brings a unique perspective to verifying large-sized files on the HDD.
