Sysinfo

Knowing the configuration of a computer is important when troubleshooting or attempting to make hardware updates. Windows comes with an integrated system information tool, which reports on hardware resources and the network environment, but there are various other third-party applications that do the same, more or less. One of them is Sysinfo.

Needless to say, Sysinfo is a system information reporting tool for Windows. It requires no installation, which is a plus. You simply launch it, and it starts scanning the system to gather data regarding the computer's hardware and software configuration.

The main window comprises several areas that Sysinfo reports on, building up an overview of the PC's configuration. Unfortunately, it is not possible to export this summary or save the data to file. In fact, the lack of export options is one of the most significant drawbacks of this application.

Clicking on any of the buttons in the main window reveals more detailed information regarding that particular section. For instance, you can read about the computer's boot settings, its domain and host name, connected peripherals, and power options in the "Computer" section.

A similar table with several parameters and their values is available for the CPU, the memory, the BIOS, optical and hard drives, sound devices, network adapters, the video card, the motherboard, and the operating system. Sysinfo reports on the registered Windows accounts, disk partitions, environment variables, port connectors and the battery status for a laptop or a notebook.

Sysinfo surely comes in handy to both beginner and experienced computer users who want to find out more about their PC. However, the impossibility to export data and save the system information report affects its value.
