Unknown Device Tool

Unknown Device Tool is a lightweight and simple-to-use application that identifies devices unrecognizable by the operating system.

As installation is not a prerequisite, you can simply drop the program files anywhere on the hard disk and click the executable to run.

Otherwise, it is possible to move Unknown Device Tool to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation with minimum effort.

An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry section does not get new entries, and leftovers are not kept around after removing the tool.

A list of all hardware devices is automatically shown at initialization; you can expand the tree branches to get additional information, including the technical specifications of unrecognized items.

Unfortunately, Unknown Device Tool does not integrate any options or configurable settings. For instance, you cannot copy this list to the Clipboard, export it to file (e.g. TXT, HTML, DOC) or print it for further scrutiny.

As expected from this tiny application with limited functionality, Unknown Device Tool is very light on the system resources, running on a minimal amount of CPU and RAM. No error dialogs have been shown throughout our tests and the app did not hang or crash.
