    EDITOR'S RATING

    Softpedia Editor's Review for AppSnap

Automatically figures out the latest version, downloads the installer and then installs the software

Written by Bogdan Popa on February 7th, 2012

AppSnap is a very handy piece of software designed to scan your computer for installed apps and let you know whether there are any updates available.

Plus, the program boasts a large database of programs, giving you the power to pick the ones you need and automatically download and install every single item.

It may sound complicated, but it's not, and AppSnap is pretty easy to use, especially thanks to its simple interface. Truth is, the program may seem a bit unprofessional at the first sign, mostly due to the choice of fonts, but this basic look still helps the app get the job done pretty easy.

AppSnap can display installed, not installed, upgradeable, removable and processing applications, with the new programs organized in multiple categories, such as development, entertainment, Firefox, fun and games, libraries and utilities.

If you go for the installed one, which is the most useful feature, AppSnap checks for installed software and lets you know if newer versions are available online. Plus, you can check either one or multiple items and automatically download the installers.

Other than that, there's no other configuration screen or menu, so the program is pretty easy to use. Plus, it comprises a detailed help manual with tons of information that assists beginners throughout the whole process.

Just as expected, AppSnap runs on low resources and works on all Windows versions. Still, Windows 7 users need administrator privileges to download and install new apps.

All in all, AppSnap is a powerful app manager that can help you a lot when checking for newer releases of the installed programs. And with an interface update, it could easily become a five-star product.
