The AutoRunExterminator is a software that protects your computer in real time against the feared "virus from pen drive". It protects your computer against those viruses that use the file "autorun.inf" in pen drives to infect.

Usually the "virus from pen drive" uses the AutoRun (or "AutoPlay") Windows function to run automatically when the pen drive is plugged in the computer. These viruses also tend to copy the file "autorun.inf" to other drives, expanding the area infected and infecting other pen drives. The file "autorun.inf" works as a shortcut that runs the virus.

The software monitors all logical drives (from C: to Z:) looking for the file "autorun.inf" in the drive root (only in the root.) If it finds a file with this name, delete it. Note: obviously, as it can not delete the "autorun.inf" from CDs and DVDs, will not influence the functioning of these.

The AutoRunExterminator shows in your window how many files "autorun.inf" were found and how many were excluded. Moreover, displays an icon in the System Tray (near the Windows clock).

The software also disables the Autorun ("AutoPlay") Windows feature, to create a complete protection.

For a constant protection, in real time, it is better that the software is configured to start with Windows. To do this simply create a shortcut to it and place it in your "Startup" folder in the Start menu. Note: this must be done on all Windows user accounts that you want protected.
