Softpedia Editor's Review for CpuIdle Extreme
|
This application lowers CPU temperature and power consumption by turning off CPU when idle
Written by Elena Opris on December 21st, 2011
CpuIdle Extreme is a power management software that you can set to automatically turn off CPU when the computer is in an idle state.
Thus, you lower the CPU temperature and extend the CPU life span. The user interface of the program consists of a standard window in which you can access the main areas via tabs.
In "CPU Info" you can view various information on your CPU, such as clock speed, physical memory, display drivers and processors.
In the "StartUp" tab, you can enable autostart or set CpuIdle Extreme to optimize CPU/chipset, verify temperature monitoring software, as well as configure Athlon cooling mode options and Athlon chipset optimizations.
The "TaskBar" area allows you to select the idle display in the taskbar (none, numeric or graphical display), adjust the update interface and view the total time, total idle percent and current idle percent of the CPU.
Finally, in "Auto-Off Windows" you can make a list of applications found in Windows that cause CpuIdle Extreme to disable itself, as well as adjust the update interval.
The program consumes a low amount of system memory and we haven't come across any problems during our tests. It also comes with an online user documentation but beginners could experience difficulties in learning this software. So, we recommend CpuIdle Extreme mainly to power users.
