Drive Magic 1.0
Portable command line tool
The application functions through CMD, and because it does not require an installation process, you can start working with it right away, just by downloading and unzipping the archive.
As such, this means you can easily carry Drive Magic with you on a removable storage device and use it on all compatible computers, be it at work, at school or at home.
However, bear in mind that you need to use Command Prompt in Administrator Mode in order to work with Drive Magic, which also means that you need to manually input the source path to the program, as it does not support drag and drop.
Hide or unhide your system drives with a few key presses
Despite the lack of a user interface, Drive Magic is fairly simple to understand and handle, as its commands are rather self-explanatory. In addition, the utility can list them all as well as exemplify them for you, if you type ‘-?’.
The tool features three main functions, specifically ‘Hide’, ‘Unhide’ and ‘List’. The first one requires you to enter ‘-H’ followed by the drive letter that you wish to remove from Windows Explorer (for instance ‘-H C:\’). The same applies in the case of the ‘Unhide’ function, with changes taking effect after logging off or restarting your PC.
To ‘List’ the computer disks, all you need to do is type ‘-L’ as a command and hit ‘Enter’, after which Drive Magic will display the current drives (the corresponding letter), their name, type (local, removable, CD / DVD), file system (NTFS, FAT) and status (visible or hidden).
Useful disk hider
To sum it up, Drive Magic is a handy and efficient command line application created to assist you in changing the visibility status of your system drives, enabling you to hide the ones that contain sensitive information, thus preventing unauthorized access to them.
