P-Apps represents a lightweight and effective software solution to create portable items from any application, as the name suggests.
The tool itself is portable. With its help you can run any program without performing installations, and from any location, whether it's the hard disk, USB flash drive or other portable storage unit.
Portable programs do not work with the Windows Registry area or leave files behind on the hard drive after deleting them.
The interface of P-Apps is based on a wizard-like layout, where a few simple steps are required to carry out a task in not time.
You can get started by performing the pre-scan. This step takes snapshots of the Windows Registry entries and file system before proceeding with the installation procedure.
In the next step you can minimize P-Apps to the taskbar and install the program you want to make portable. Once it finishes, P-Apps takes a new snapshot of the Windows Registry and compares it to the first one, in order to record changes.
These changes lead to a list of executable files, created as the result of the installation. You can choose one or multiple EXEs as the appropriate start file for the package. Once you select the file system security mode (low, medium or high), you can establish the target location of the new portable app, and proceed with the file building operation.
P-Apps has a good response time and carries out tasks rapidly and without errors. We have not encountered any issues throughout our evaluation, since the program did not hang, crash or display error notifications. Thanks to its user-friendly environment, even beginners can quickly get adjusted to P-Apps.
