Res-O-Matic

Res-O-Matic is a lightweight and portable application that lets you create a shortcut to a program and run it at a preferred resolution. It is ideal for video gamers, for instance, as it gives them the possibility of keeping an eye on other tools while playing.

Since installation is not a requirement, you can just save the executable file to any location on the HDD, and run it directly. It is also possible to move Res-O-Matic to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer with minimum effort.

What's important to keep in mind is that portable programs do not add new entries to the Windows Registry, or leave files behind on the hard disk after removing them.

The interface of the application is based on a small, standard window with a simple layout, where importing an external app into the working environment is done with the help of the file browser, since drag-and-drop is not supported. The supported formats are EXE, COM and BAT. It is not possible to process multiple programs at once.

All you have to do is adjust the graphics by selecting the resolution (ranging from 640x480 to 1920x1080), colors (8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit) and refresh rate. Modifications are immediately applied, with the simple click of a button. There are no other notable options available through this tool.

We have noticed a minimum CPU and system memory consumption during Res-O-Matic's runtime, so the utility does not affect the overall performance of the computer. It has a good response time and performs well, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, first-time can easily work with Res-O-Matic.
