editor's review

Although it may not appear so, your computer is constantly running a multitude of processes and services in the background. Sometimes, one of these can stop functioning correctly and it might interfere with your other activities.

Monitor any system service and control its activity

ServiceTray is a software solution designed to offer you complete control over your system's active services, by enabling you to monitor specific processes and view details about their running parameters. In addition, it also allows you to start, stop or reset the services whenever you need to do so.

In order to start monitoring a process, you need to change it from a list provided by the application, which includes every active or inactive service available on your operating system. Afterward, you can keep an eye on it using the icon from your tray, which displays the current status of the component. Furthermore, you can add as many of them as you want and choose different icons for each one, in order to tell them apart easier.

View session details about every monitored process

To see if the process is running at optimal parameters, you can consult the session information window and view data about the process ID, CPU and memory usage, as well as the total up-time of the service. In addition, you can also view the exact date and time the process was started and the session number.

All of this data can be successfully used for troubleshooting various problems with your operating system, as well as to analyze the performance of your computer when it is running certain processes and services. Furthermore, if you have any particular application that needs to be regularly restarted in order to work correctly, you can easily handle it with the help of this utility.

In conclusion

Overall, thanks to the decent amount of information delivered about the selected services and the very low resource consumption, ServiceTray is a handy utility to keep around, especially if you confront with operating system issues and you need to detect the troublesome software components.
