Process Assassin is an easy to use application created to enable users quickly terminate non-responsive processes.
You don’t have to be an experienced user to learn how to use the program, especially thanks to the main GUI that groups all options in just a single window.
A tabbed layout makes sure you find the process you want to kill with just one click, while the lack of configuration settings is the living proof that Process Assassin can be safely used by rookies too.
The program comes with pre-defined paths to the common Windows applications, such as Windows Explorer, Task Manager, Sidebar, Media Center, Movie Maker, Live messenger, Microsoft Office, popular browsers and many other tools.
A single click is all you need to quickly end one of the aforementioned processes, but keep in mind that administrator privileges are needed on Windows 7 workstations.
If however the non-responsive program you wish to kill is not included in the app, you can provide the path to the process using a dedicated feature created in this regard. Unfortunately however, this can sometime be quite a difficult task, especially if you’re struggling to deal with a system process whose location is unknown.
On the good side, Process Assassin doesn’t hamper system performance and it works flawlessly on all Windows versions.
All things considered, Process Assassin does its job, but further improvements to become a bit more user-friendly are still needed. The interface is plain and simple, and that’s clearly a good thing, but killing unknown processes is a pain in the neck.
