Casper RAM Cleaner
If you’re already familiar with RAM optimization tools and you wish to try a new program capable of doing the same thing, but with just a few configuration options, Casper RAM Cleaner deserves a chance.
There are only a few configuration parameters, but the good thing is that the program’s GUI quickly provides access to useful RAM statistics, while at the same time it allows users to prepare the optimization process.
The tabbed layout gives you the chance to jump from information to settings with just a single click, which can only be good news for those uninitiated, while more advanced users are spoiled with graphs and a few more complicated options.
The “Ram Details” screen shows separate graphs to track RAM usage and RAM usage history in the last five minutes, while more statistics are available at the bottom of the window, including total, in use and available RAM.
What’s more, you can quickly select the amount of RAM to free and start the process with minimum effort, but the settings menu is a must-check to configure all the other features.
Casper RAM Cleaner can perform automatic optimizations too, so you can define the amount of RAM to be cleaned and the interval. Plus, you can choose to clean RAM when a critical level is reached, of course with options to set the critical level and the amount of RAM to be freed up.
Casper RAM Cleaner runs on very low resources, but it doesn’t work on Windows 7 workstations, as it stops responding every time you start an optimization.
Overall, Casper RAM Cleaner is a decent project, but it does exactly the same thing as all the other memory optimization tools on the market. Plus, it closes unexpectedly on Windows 7, which isn’t quite good news for lots of users out there.
