TrafficCompressor

As its name suggests, TrafficCompressor is a handy application designed to provide you with a simple method for cutting back on your expenses by compressing data transferred over the Internet and thus decreasing traffic.

Especially designed for users who pay for Internet traffic, the program runs in your system tray and tries to compress the sent and the received data packets, which are first transferred to a high-speed TrafficCompressor server. It works with web pages, e-mail and chat messages, pictures on web pages and so on.

The program provides support for the common Internet protocols (HTTP, IRC, Usenet, POP3 and IMAP4), instant messenger software (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, Mail.Ru Agent, Jabber, Windows Messenger, MSN and Gadu-Gadu), but also some online game protocols. The traffic generated by streaming media content and the voice traffic transferred by messaging tools cannot be decreased with this application.

The application can compress the traffic for all the hosts, but the user can also specify certain hosts manually. The same happens with programs that generate Internet traffic.

You can create a custom file exclusion list, which means that the containing formats will not be processed by TrafficCompressor. Automatically, this list includes already compressed downloads, such as ZIP, EXE, MP3, GIF, JPEG, ActiveX and more.

Flash animation blocking, compression statistics, connection blocking prevention, as well as proxy server usage are other features that this application comes with. Also, it allows you to find a balance between the traffic amount and the Internet access speed by customizing the number of server connection threads.
