DSL Speed is a network optimization tool that's exclusively addressed to DSL connections, trying to increase speed as much as possible.
Although it provides a pretty fast way to optimize a DSL connection, the interface is not the most intuitive, so it could take a few seconds to figure out which feature is which.
There are two optimization modes, “Normal” and “Advanced”, both promising to do the same thing: increasing browsing and downloading speeds.
The “Normal” mode is the one that takes just a second because the user has nothing more to do than to hit the “Process” button. A reboot is needed after the optimization comes to an end.
On the other hand, the “Advanced” version asks the user to verify the best MTU value online and only then proceed with the optimization per se. Again, everything should work like a breeze because DSL Speed does the whole job automatically for both tasks.
And that's basically it. DSL Speed comes with no settings menu, but instead it boasts a shortcut to a collection of links where you can perform speed tests and thus find out for sure whether the app increased your speed or not.
It has a comprehensive help manual, so rookies should have no problems when using the app.
All things considered, DSL Speed is a decent application, but it still needs some enhancements in many key areas. The interface for example should be better organized, with a more user friendly approach, while both optimization modes need detailed explanations so that the user would know exactly what he's about to do all the time.
