The upper hand of a portable app
Once advantage to this tool is that it is portable. As a result, it is not going to make any changes to the Windows registry without your approval.
In addition to that, you should know that you can take Win7DSFilterTweaker anywhere with you, by simply moving the program files to a USB thumb drive or other similar storage device.
This piece of software encompasses a minimalistic interface, seeing it only consists of a few buttons, and some lists with radio and check boxes which let you easily change the parameters that interest you. Help contents are incorporated, thus making sure that all types of users can easily learn how to handle the app.
Options you can tweak
The program lets you view a list with all the DirectShow filters (32 and 64 bit) supported and enabled. Here you can choose to disable some decoders, apply changes or revert to the original ones, with just a click of the button.
It is also possible to disable some Microsoft codecs and the use of Media Foundation for specified file extensions, such as 3GP, AVI, ASF, M2TS, MOV, MP4, MPG, VOB and WMV. The latter function may solve multiple issues, including no audio, stuttering video, file does not play at all and black video.

The computer’s performance is not going to be burdened seeing that the amount of resources required is quite insignificant, and the response time is pretty good.
All in all, Win7DSFilterTweaker is a pretty handy utility, suitable to both power and novice users, which did not pop up any errors, freeze or hang in our tests.
