Windows 7 Booster
Windows 7 Booster is a small-sized and portable application that enables users to tweak system settings in Windows 7, in order to improve overall performance.
As installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable file to a custom directory on the HDD and simply click it to run.
It is also possible to save Windows 7 Booster to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any machine with minimum effort.
An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry does not receive new updates, and leftovers do not remain on the disk after removing the tool.
The interface is based on a user-friendly window with a well-structured layout, where four buttons provide quick access to Windows tweaks, services, cleanup, and context menu editor.
When it comes to Windows tweaks, it is possible to turn off Aero Snap, decrease the menu show delay, disable low disk space warnings, balloon notifications and the Security Center all together, among others.
As for Windows services, you may stop the IP helper, disable parent controls, fax, the system biometric service, and home group listener, among others. Plus, you can declutter Windows Internet files and the temporary directory, Recycle Bin, Firefox and Chrome temporary items, to name but a few.
New entries can be easily added to the context menu, while the existing ones are prone for deletion in a similar manner. Unfortunately, there is no option for restoring all settings to their factory values, which makes Windows 7 Booster sensitive to first-time users.
The application quickly applies the new modifications while using a low amount of CPU and RAM. It did not cause the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs throughout our evaluation.
To sum it up, Windows 7 Booster provides users with easy-to-configure options for tweaking their operating system, whether we're talking about disabling Windows services, cleaning up various areas of the computer, or managing context menu entries.
