Softpedia Editor's Review for Monitor Calibration Wizard 1.0

Monitor calibration wizard, unlimited profiles, persistent profile for 3D games

Written by Ciprian Paius on November 28th, 2011

If you are a gamer you should find this application interesting, to say the least. You might think Monitor Calibration Wizard is just another display calibration utility, that there is nothing it can do that your graphics card or your advanced OSD monitor can't handle.

This application's main perk is that it can override the color profiles most games or certain visual applications use to change the color profile used by Windows. So now you can easily skip from game to game, from a graphical application to another and keep the same color settings.

Moreover, Monitor Calibration Wizard helps you define a multitude of color profiles you can use for particular situations. You start by running the wizard and adjusting the brightness and contrast levels to half the values your monitor supports. Then adjust color intensity with the help of a graphical interface. Test your color profile to make sure you are happy with it and apply the current settings to continue using them.

Monitor Calibration Wizard allows you to save the current profile and add it to the profile list where you can access it whenever you like. All you have to do is select one of the profiles and eventually test it before loading, just to make sure you are using the desired color scheme.

The application can be set to automatically load up with Windows start the last used profile. After doing that it exits, leaving you with the color profile of your liking. But this does not mean you can’t operate changes to the color profile during system run-time. If you want to make sure you keep your preferred color scheme, use Monitor Calibration Wizard's Persistent profile.

This profile overrides any changes attempted by running applications. Monitor Calibration Wizard loads at system start up and remains active in the system tray area, where you can close it by exiting from system tray, thus losing color profile control.

And finally, use the third profile to apply a fix to override driver level color correction to prevent nay graphic card related tools to change the colors on a driver level. This profile will apply a workaround for this color tampering, but at the cost of CPU usage, so caution is advised.
