Google Gadgets Calendar
Google Gadgets Calendar is a tool designed for Google Desktop; as its name implies, the app displays the current date and time directly on your desktop.
Thanks to the fact that Google Gadgets Calendar is a widget, installing it is not necessary. It means that you can save the app to an external device (like a USB flash drive), store it on any computer and directly run its executable file.
More importantly, no changes are made to the Windows registry and no leftover items can be found after removing the tool.
Google Gadgets Calendar is automatically integrated into the Google Desktop Sidebar upon initialization. But you can undock it at any time.
The interface of the app is based on small layout where fluorescent yellow is the dominant color, followed by a light grey; you can view the current time in the 12-hour mode, along with the current date and day of the week. Plus, you can switch through any month of any year in the calendar.
By opening the right-click menu, you can hide or collapse the app, make it stay on top of other pieces of software, zoom in and out, as well as turn the clock into the 24-hour mode.
The lightweight gadget barely uses system memory and CPU. It has a good response time. We have not come across any difficulties in our tests; Google Gadgets Calendar did not freeze, crash or pop up errors. On the downside, you cannot customize the layout colors. The app has never received any updates.
