CPU Meter is a simple gadget built on the Google Desktop platform, whose sole purpose is to show you the current CPU level of your system. It caters to users who frequently hog the computer resources, such as hardcore video gamers and programmers.
The interface of CPU Meter is based on a circular frame built into the Google Desktop sidebar but that can be undocked and repositioned to any spot on the screen.
The current CPU level is represented in percent and a meter. However, the gadget does not pack any options or configurable settings of its own.
However, thanks to the default preferences provided by the Google Desktop platform, you can zoom in or out of the frame, hide or collapse it, as well as enable it to stay on top of other windows.
The lightweight gadget is not a concern to the computer's overall performance, as it uses a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works well, delivering accurate results. No errors have been shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. Too bad that CPU Meter has not been updated for a very long time.
