System Monitor Vista Gadget is a lightweight app with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to monitor the activity of your computer directly from your desktop.
Thus, you can carefully keep an eye on your system's resources if you are an avid video gamer, for example.
Since this is a gadget, installing the app is not necessary. This means that you can store System Monitor Vista Gadget on a removable device (like a USB flash drive), store it on any computer that uses Windows Vista and directly run it.
More importantly, no new entries are added to the Windows registry and no leftover files can be found after program removal.
System Monitor Vista Gadget lets you view the total and used memory, CPU, along with network items (Local Area Network, Wide Area Network). But you can also check out the free and total space of your hard drives, CD and DVD drives, as well as user information (user name, PC name, domain/workgroup).
The tool includes several customization options for the interface. Therefore, you can change the theme, title text and box color, along with the status text and background color.
System Monitor Vista Gadget puts little strain on the computer; it requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory. We have not come across any problems during our tests; the gadget did not cause the operating system to freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, it has not been updated recently.
