WiFi Check is a small gadget developed for the Google Desktop platform, that lets you immediately check the status of your WiFi connection, right on your desktop. It is easy to use, and packs limited options.
The installation procedure is quick and eventful. WiFi Check's interface is based on a very small frame that you can undock from the sidebar and move to any position on the screen, by using the mouse cursor.
The main window shows your current WiFi connection name, along with the signal strength in percentage. However, WiFi Check does not come equipped with any configuration settings of its own.
But, thanks to the default settings provided by the Google Desktop app, you can zoom in and out of the frame, hide or collapse it, as well as make it stay on top of other windows.
Evidently, the gadget is not a burden to the computer's overall activity, since it requires a minimal amount of CPU and system memory. It seamlessly integrates into Google Desktop and does not cause it to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs; we have not encountered any problems during our tests.
On the other hand, WiFi Check has limited functionality. But we must also take into account that the gadget has not been updated for a pretty long time. Even so, first-time users can quickly figure out how to work with WiFi Check.
