Flood It! is a desktop gadget that implements an interesting logic game, where you are given a board with multiple tiles of different colors, and you have to make them the same color in 25 steps or less.
It comes in handy when you want to get a short break from work to relax, as well as to improve your strategy skills.
The interface of the lightweight app is based on a small window, where the colored board is shown on the right side, while on the left you can observe 6 types of colors to choose from.
The rule is pretty simple. Starting with the top left tile in the board, you have to click one of the six colors to match the ones adjacent to the first tile (similar to filling out shapes in Paint using the Bucket tool).
As the dominant colors spread throughout the board, you get one step closer to filling it completely. However, the game is limited to 25 moves. You can start a new session at any time.
Flood It! does not integrate any configurable options of its own. For example, there are no difficulty levels available, and you cannot customize the colors. Thanks to the default settings provided by the operating system, you can make the frame stay on top of other windows, and change its opacity level.
The gadget is very light on the system resources, running on a minimal quantity of CPU and memory. It has a good response time and works well, without causing Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, Flood It! offers a fun way to kill some time when you're working.
