Although Yahoo! discontinued their support for the widget gallery, the existing widgets continue to work and provide users with helpful and easy to use items. One of them is Google Calendar, a handy and lightweight app designed to provide you with all the features and advantages of the online Google calendar right on your desktop.
In order to make it work, the application requires the Yahoo! Widget Engine installed on your system. The widget interacts with your Google account, enabling you to view the calendar, with all its scheduled event and notifications, just as you would in your browser. One of the most important features of the application is related to event notifications. The notification time frame and the length of time for displaying the alert can be defined by the user.
In order to use the 'QuickAdd' feature, you have to input your name, the Gmail address and the Google Calendar password. This means that you can easily add new events to your calendar using the desktop widget.
The appearance of the application is highly customizable, as you can change the background color, so that the widget can blend with your desktop theme.
