Direct connect (often referred to as DC) is a peer-to-peer file-sharing protocol.

DC clients must first connect to a central hub and can easily download files from one another by either browsing through that user's shared files or searching for a specific file.

Typically, hubs feature a list of connected users who can both transfer files and chat.

Some hubs have specific restrictions that may limit a user's access to it: the amount of data shared, the number of upload slots etc
