GMail Notifiers Apps and Alternatives

Gmail is a free, ad-supported web-based form of mail, developed and supported by Google. This POP3 and IMAP service became hugely popular since it was initially launched in 2004, and, due to the constant updates it receives, it still attracts new users.

Being a form of webmail, users would need to access a web browser every time they want to check their mailbox, therefore developers have created dedicated applications that would notify users of any incoming email without any browser accessing.

Basically, one needs to specify their username and password once, then the app typically sits in the system tray (so as not to disturb users from their work), and an alert window will be displayed whenever a new message is received.

Furthermore, users also have the possibility to customize the notification, including its frequency and/or the sounds.
