MOV Player Apps and Alternatives

MOV format is a proprietary Apple multimedia container which includes one or several tracks, each of them containing video, audio, or subtitle texts. Each of these tracks may contain digitally-encoded media streams or a reference to the media from another file.

MOV files are particularly suited for editing, because they feature the ability to import and edit in place, without copying any data.

The recommended player for MOV files is QuickTime, but they can be processed by any multimedia player that features appropriate codecs.

As a side note, all the MOV-compatible applications will permit users to build playlists with their files.
