AC3 is a Dolby Digital audio file extension that contains multiple distinct frames. In addition, AC3 tracks may feature up to 6 audio blocks whereas each of them can contain 256 audio samples per channel.
Additionally, AC3 files can also feature a subwoofer output, widely known as 5.1 surround sound.
In order to be able to make custom AC3 files, users will need to choose a dedicated multimedia tool that will encode tracks to this format.
Before completing the conversion, some applications will allow users to modify the bit rate, audio channel and sample rate of the source file.
All software solutions that support AC3 creation will offer users the possibility to select the output filename.
