The standard file extension used on Windows platforms for representing non-animated cursors is CUR. This extension resembles ICO, but they differ in terms of identification bytes and the specification of a hotspot in the cursor file's header.

Users have the possibility to install custom CUR files by simply installing new themes on their computers.

When users want to create CUR files, they can simply convert their images to CUR pictures.
