RealMedia format is better known as RM and it is a multimedia container that is particularly suited for streaming audio and video content over the Web.
Since RM files feature streaming media encoded at a constant bit rate, developers have created a variable bitrate format, called RMVB, used mainly for locally stored multimedia content.
Software applications which support RM and RMVB creation allow users to easily encode their favorite videos to these formats.
Some RM maker will also offer users the possibility to split or merge the source files before exporting them to RM videos.
