DWG format is a database of two and three dimensional drawings usually created with AutoCAD.

This vector image format stores design data and metadata that depict the file contents.

In order to be able to open a DWG file, one needs to use a compatible CAD software application.

There are also some file viewers which only allow users to open DWG files and explore its contents with no editing functions, but they might also support DWG conversion.
