Working as a music producer or sound engineer can be both rewarding and challenging, but lacking certain software assisting tools can seriously put you in jeopardy, as various digital components require them for a wide range of reasons. Take VST plugins for example.

VST stands for Virtual Studio Technology and the format is typically used to represent audio plugins that are capable of creating and customizing audio effects. However, most of these VSTs don't pack a standalone version of themselves and in order to be able to enjoy their capabilities, users will need to launch them through a compatible host application, called a DAW or Digital Audio Workstation.

Users should keep in mind that not all VST plugins can be used with all VST-compatible audio software, since some of them are created exclusively for one application.

However, all the multimedia tools that support VST plugins will enable users to build original audio effects.
