Play MTS Files

MTS is an acronym for MPEG Transport Stream and it defines a high-definition video format, typically referred to as AVCHD.

Frequently used for the clips captured by Sony, Panasonic or other types of HD camcorders, this format supports 720p and 1080i HD videos.

AVCHD video files can be burned to Blu-ray discs and played in compatible devices. Sony and some Panasonic video cameras have software to open and edit MTS files.

Other players convert the files. AVCHD files are based on the MPEG 4 codec. 

Due to its large popularity, there are numerous software applications that can play this format, while also allowing playlists.

Some MTS players will offer users the possibility to export these files to other formats, be they audio or video.
