RAW Viewer Apps and Alternatives

A RAW image file contains data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image scanner, or motion picture film scanner which has received little to no editing or processing at all.

Every time you take a picture, the generated file is not processed, so it cannot be edited with a regular graphics editor.

As per the equipment currently available, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of raw formats in use by different models of digital equipment.

This type of file is called RAW and it requires specific applications in order to be accessed. Less commonly, raw may also refer to a generic image file format containing only pixel color values. 

The applications that are on this list, such as RAW viewers can be either large popular graphics suites or they can be dedicated tools that were created with the single role of opening RAW files, with no editing options.

There are also RAW editors and RAW converters, and fortunately, there are such software tools made by some of the most famous multimedia-related developers in the world.
