When creating a new partition, one divides their hard disk into several distinct units, that will be managed separately.
In order to be able to modify the size of an existing partition, users will need to find a compatible application.
Users will be able to change the size of a partition only if there is unallocated space in their HDD, otherwise they will first need to create it (by reducing the size of another partition).
Some of these utilities can also be used to create new partitions or to erase them (all the data stored on them will be lost).
