View NEF Files

NEF stands for Nikon Electronic Format and it represents the raw image captured by any Nikon digital camera. NEF files are uncompressed items which contain exactly the data captured by the camera.

NEF files are raw images, therefore they cannot be printed or edited until they have been saved to the computer and converted to other formats.

In order to view NEF images, users need to select one of the graphic applications that support raw formats.

There are few utilities that can preview NEF images since it is more common to convert them to other formats then open them.
