PPTX is the standard file extension used for representing the documents created natively by Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 or later. As opposed to PPT, the earlier version of the format, PPTX saves data as a collection of individual files in a compressed zip archive.
Consequently, any included file type, like charts, macros, images and text, can be accessed with greater ease than the PPT provides.
In order to be able to view PPTX files, users will require a dedicated software solution.
Some PPTX viewers can also be used to export the files to other formats that can be accessed and modified easier.
