New in Adobe Animate CC 2018 19.0 (Oct 15, 2018)

  • Auto Lip-Sync:
  • Powered by Adobe Sensei:
  • As a character animator using Animate CC, creating lip syncing was always a time consuming effort. Now, you can match mouth poses to sound inflections automatically with Adobe Sensei powered Animate.
  • Auto lip-syncing allows easier and faster method of placing appropriate mouth shapes on Timeline, based on the chosen audio layer. You can achieve this using an existing list of mouth poses, drawn within a graphic symbol and label them with corresponding visemes. When you apply auto lip-syncing on a graphic symbol, keyframes are created automatically at different positions matching with the audio visemes, after analyzing the specified audio layer. You can make any further adjustments if you want, by using regular workflows and Frame Picker.
  • VR authoring and publishing (Beta):
  • As a 2D game developer, educationist, or web developer, you can use 2D skill set in Animate and export panorama or 360 virtual reality animations. You can use these virtual reality animations as Facebook feed, use in Microsoft Office products or in any website.
  • When you want to import panorama or 360 vector graphics, animate content, and introduce interactivity at runtime, you require specific document types. Animate now introduces VR 360 and VR panorama document types which enable you to create such engaging content with ease. Also, you can use the virtual reality document type to import 3D model content (.glb files) to an Animate project and interact with VR output.
  • You can click and move MovieClip instances in the Preview panel. Animate detects the objects automatically when you click and move them around. They move along a cylinder or a sphere path depending on the selected document type.
  • Animate also lets you manage the virtual reality animations at runtime by using APIs. For example, you can introduce some objects in a 360 virtual reality environment when a user clicks a button.
  • Asset sculpting for vector and raster content:
  • You can now easily deform complex vector shapes and raster shape using asset warp tool. Create animations without having to redraw assets on each frame.
  • Using the warp handles that appear on the objects, you can reshape or distort specific object areas while leaving other areas intact. Users can select multiple objects using selection tool and then select asset warp tool to create warp handles on them. All the selected objects are grouped when you create the first warp handle. This asset warp tool enables you to create frame-by-frame animation and tween animations on complex shapes or bitmap images.
  • Texture publishing for improved performance:
  • As an animator, now you can continue to author content in vector format and export as vector or raster format for HTML 5 platforms.
  • Click File > Publish Settings. If Publish entire animation as a texture is enabled in Basictab, Image Settings tab shows Texture Publishing options. By default, all the symbols are included in Texture publishing. To selectively choose symbols for textures, click Change.
  • Layer parenting and layer effects:
  • Layer parenting:
  • Animate allows you to parent one layer to another. Layer parenting is an easy way to allow one layer/object of your animation to control over the other layer/object. As an animation designer or a game designer, you can speed up your animation time as you can control movements of different parts of a character more easily.
  • Now, you can animate between poses easily by organizing assets in parent-child layers. When an object on the parent layer moves, the child layer automatically moves along with it.
  • Layer effects:
  • Add tints and filters to layers, play with in and out fades, depth of field, and so on. You can make all these changes without changing objects on stage.
  • You can use frame level filters to apply them for all the objects at a time in a frame. Apply filters directly on the timeline (frames) without having to place the assets or animation inside a Movie clip. Filters can be applied over all types of assets including graphic symbols and shapes, providing more flexibility.
  • Export to GL Transmission Format (glTF):
  • As an animator, now you can export new glTF standard based animations that can run on Facebook feed and Microsoft Office suite. New WebGL-glTF standard and WebGL-glTF Extended document types have been added to the existing list of document types in Animate.
  • You can use standard template which allows integration with standard glTF playback packages, supports basic interactivity and standards. The extended version enables you to create advanced animations.
  • Improved integration with After Effects:
  • As an Animator, you often need to create animations in Animate and import them into After Effects for post processing tasks. Now, Animate streamlines this workflow by providing a plug-in for After Effects.
  • You can import Animate FLA files into After Effects to composite them with a video or render them as video with more creative effects. The layer hierarchy of Animate is maintained in After Effects. After Effects can interact with Animate using the plug-in.
  • New Home screen:
  • Now, it is easier for animators to get started quickly with Animate. You can choose the destination for an animation using any of the intents, Animate provides you the preset formats. Choose an intent of from the tabs at the top of the screen such as Character Animation, Social, Game, Education, Ads, Web, and Advanced. Select the appropriate presets for each of the intents and click Create to start creating animations. You can view the recently used files in the left pane. Sample assets are provided at the bottom of the startup screen.

  • CREATIVE CLOUD LIBRARIES AND ADOBE STOCK INTEGRATION:
  • CC Libraries:
  • Creative Cloud Libraries make your assets available to you anywhere. Create images, colors, color themes, brushes, shapes, and more in Photoshop, Illustrator, and mobile apps such as Adobe Capture CC, and then easily access them across other desktop and mobile apps for a seamless creative workflow.
  • Animate CC comes integrated with CC Libraries. CC Libraries help you keep track of all your design assets. When you create graphic assets and save them to Libraries, they are available for use in your Animate documents. Design assets are automatically synced, and can be shared with anyone with a Creative Cloud account. As your creative team works across Adobe desktop and mobile apps, your shared library assets are always up to date and ready to use anywhere.
  • Adobe Stock integration for high-quality images, illustrations, and graphics:
  • Animate CC comes integrated with Adobe Stock, a service that provides designers and businesses with access to 40 million high-quality, curated, royalty-free images, illustrations, and vector graphics for all their creative projects. You can purchase Adobe Stock on an as-needed basis as a single image or you can purchase a multi-image subscription to use it in your Animate CC documents. A number of subscription packages are available. Note: Adobe Stock is available only in following countries right now: US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Cyprus.
  • TYPEKIT SUPPORT FOR HTML5 CANVAS DOCUMENT TYPE:
  • This release of Adobe Animate CC offers Typekit integration with HTML5 Canvas document type, which provides direct access to thousands of quality, premium fonts from top foundry partners. You can access and use Typekit fonts seamlessly in your HTML5 output for modern browsers and mobile devices, using your Creative Cloud membership.
  • VECTOR ART BRUSHES:
  • The new Paint Brush tool brings the capability of using Art Brushes, as commonly known in Adobe Illustrator, within Animate CC. Paint Brush tool is based on strokes and is different from the existing Brush tool, the behavior of which remains unchanged.Paintbrush tool lets you draw stylized brush strokes by applying the selected art brush’s pattern along the drawn path. You can apply brush strokes to existing paths, or use the Paintbrush tool to draw a path and apply a brush stroke simultaneously.
  • Improved drawing experience:
  • The Paint Brush tool now offers much faster drawing experience than before, with no splitting or interference with the previously drawn strokes. Curve fitting has also been made smoother
  • For better drawing experience, Flash enforces that art brush strokes are always drawn in Object mode
  • Edit Brush and Art Brush options:
  • Launch the Brush editing dialog box for the selected brush using the new Edit Brush icon. If a normal stroke or one of the old stroke styles is selected, the old dialog box appears. If an Art Brush is selected, the new Art Brush Options dialog box appears.
  • Apply colors of the brush strokes:
  • Draw Monochrome art brushes with any color and it will pick the color applied as the current stroke color, just like any other strokes. Multicoloured art brushes, however, ignore the stroke color and draw using its own color set as specified in the brush definition.
  • Draw as fill:
  • The new Draw as Fill option in Paint Brush tool helps you control the shape created by the Paint brush to be a stroke or fill a region.
  • Animate now supports the Draw as Fill capability for all the stroke styles in the Paint Brush tool. When Draw as Fill is selected, you have the flexibility to draw using the Paint Brush tool in both Object and Merge drawing modes.
  • Object Drawing Vs Merged Drawing mode:
  • When using Art Brushes, enable the Drawing Object mode so that each brush stroke is drawn independently and do not merge with the existing strokes causing undesirable stroke intersections. You can see better performance when you use it in Object drawing mode compared to Merged drawing mode because brush strokes typically contain heavy vector data and merging of shapes may cause Animate to perform slower. To convert an already drawn shape to a Drawing Object, select the graphic on stage and click Modify > Combine Objects > Union.
  • Draggable guides for setting the start and end markers:
  • Art Brushes in this release offer brush preview with draggable guides for setting the start and end markers and more brush options to choose from. After editing, you can save the Art Brush settings as a new brush or update existing strokes in the document.
  • Apply Art Brush styles to already drawn graphics on stage:
  • Apply the new art brush styles to already drawn shapes or in your existing documents. Select a shape on stage and modify its stroke style by choosing an Art brush stroke style on the Properties Panel .
  • Import new Art Brushes from CC Libraries:
  • Import new Art Brushes to your Animate document using the CC Libraries in addition to the Art brush presets available by default. To add a new Art Brush, open the CC libraries panel and just click on any of the supported brushes. (Animate currently supports only Illustrator brushes from CC Libraries.) For adding new brushes to your CC Library, you can use the Brush App for Android and iOS.
  • Edit the Art Brush stroke paths:
  • Edit or reshape the brush strokes drawn using the Paint Brush tool just like any other strokes in Animate using the selection and sub-selection tools.
  • Convert Art Brush Strokes to Fills:
  • Art brushes behave as strokes and can be changed to fills by using the ‘Convert Lines to Fills option. To convert, first select the brush strokes drawn on stage and click Modify > Shape > Convert Lines to Fills. Once converted to fills, it will behave as normal fills and lose its path editing capability.
  • Brush Library panel:
  • Animate CC now comes integrated with a global library for Art Brushes that includes a vast collection of brushes. To launch the Brush Panel, click Windows > Brush Library. Before using any brush, add it to your current document by double-clicking on the brush in the Brush Library panel. Clicking on a brush in CC Library adds it to both the global Brush Library panel and the current document.
  • TAGGED SWATCHES:
  • You can now create tagged swatches by selecting a color from your swatches. Once you create a tagged swatch and apply it to shapes and paths in your Animate content, changing the color in the tagged swatch will automatically update all the content that is using it.
  • STAGE SCALING:
  • Animate now supports publishing ActionScript documents as projector files. Projectors are Animate files that contain both the published SWF and Flash Player. Projectors can play like an ordinary application, without the need for a web browser, the Flash Player plugin, or Adobe AIR.
  • Link option to proportionately scale stage dimensions:
  • Animate CC Property Inspector and Document Settings dialog box contain a Link option to increase the stage dimensions proportionately. By default, the height and width properties of the stage are unlinked. If you click the Link button and enable linking, as you modify the values of either height or width properties, the value of the other property is changed proportionately.
  • If you select the Scale Content option, the stage dimensions are automatically linked and disabled. This is because content scaling makes sense if stage dimensions are modified proportionately.
  • ROTATE YOUR STAGE:
  • The new Rotation tool in Animate CC rotates the Stage view temporarily, to help you draw and paint at a particular angle, without permanently rotating the actual objects on stage, as the Free Transform tool does. You can quickly rotate the Stage, regardless of which tool you have currently selected, by holding down the Shift and Space keys together, and then dragging your mouse to rotate the view.
  • ENHANCED ONION SKINNING:
  • Onion skinning is a feature that allows you to modify the present state of the animation based on a small window of preview into the past as well as the future frames of that animation.
  • Starting this release, instead of using layer colors for the outlines, Blue is used for past, Red is used for current, and Green is used for future frames.
  • Color coding helps you distinguish between the past, present, and future frames while using onion skinning. In the new interface, onion skin frames before active frame appear in blue and frames after active frame appear in green. Onion skin frames away from active frame appear with progressively decreasing transparency.
  • VIDEO EXPORT TO MULTIPLE RESOLUTIONS:
  • You can now export normal and HD quality videos from your Animate document to multiple resolutions by configuring a render size in the Video Export dialog box. While setting the video resolution, Animate CC maintains the aspect ratio as per the Stage dimensions.
  • CREATE CUSTOM HTML5 CANVAS TEMPLATES AND ATTACH TO PUBLISH PROFILES:
  • Animate CC now supports custom templates for the wrapper HTML file during the publishing of HTML5 Canvas projects. You can attach a template to your publish profile. Other from using the default template, you can also import a custom html template file, or export the current template to an external file. The template options are as follows:
  • Use Default: Use the default template for generating the HTML wrapper file while publishing.
  • Import New: Import a custom template based on which the HTML wrapper file is created while publishing.
  • Export: Export the current template being used for publishing.
  • OAM PUBLISHING SUPPORT FOR AS3, WEBGL, AND HTML5 CANVAS DOCUMENTS:

  • PUBLISH TEXT AS OUTLINES IN HTML5 CANVAS DOCUMENTS:
  • This release of Animate CC provides you an option in HTML canvas publish settings that lets you automatically convert text as outlines while publishing. This ensures that the font and appearance of your text are the same on any browser or device.
  • If you select this option, Animate CC converts all the text instances except the named ones to outlines in the Javascript/HTML output.
  • HTML5 CANVAS IMPROVEMENTS:
  • The following HTML5 Canvas improvements are part of this release:
  • Canvas stroke style support: In earlier releases, only solid stroke style was available for HTML5 Canvas documents. Now, different stroke styles are available for you to choose from.
  • Drop Shadow filter with Angle and Distance properties with quality set at Medium: When you create a symbol and select the Drop Shadow filter by clicking Filters in Property panel and expanding the + dropdown, you can set Distance and Angle properties for the symbol. The quality is set to Medium.
  • IMPORT SVG FILES:
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an XML-based vector image format for two-dimensional graphics with support for interactivity and animation. You can now import SVG files in to Animate CC. Some of the import options work the same as the import options for Adobe Illustrator files.
  • You can use one of the following options to import SVG files in to Animate CC:
  • Using the File Import option: File > Import > Import to Stage, or Import to Library.
  • Drag and drop an SVG file directly into Animate.
  • Using SVG assets stored in your CC library: Drag and drop the asset from CC library directly on to Stage or your document’s library.
  • Using the existing file import JSFL API: document.importFile().
  • You can choose to covert the layers in your SVG files as follows:
  • Import all paths to the same layer and frame: Choose this option to import all the layers in your SVG to a single layer in Animate.
  • Import each path to different layer: Choose this option to import each layer in your SVG to a separate layer in Animate.
  • Import each path to different keyframe: When converting SVG layers to keyframes, the SVG file is imported as a movie clip; converting the SVG layers to Animate layers, or as a single layer, imports the SVG file as a graphic symbol. The resulting movie clip or graphic symbol contains all of the content of the SVG file imported to its timeline, as if the content were imported to the Stage.
  • ENHANCED DRAWING OBJECT BOUNDING BOX:
  • The drawing objects in Animate used to show rectangular bounding box when they are selected. This release introduces an enhanced bounding box that shows the selection indicator drawn as an outline exactly fitting the shape. With this change, you can easily edit the shape edges without getting inside the drawing objects.
  • This change helps you when you use the new Art brushes in Drawing Object mode. The selection indicator now shows the actual path of the art brush strokes. You can easily edit the stroke path as required.
  • The new bounding box model also helps you distinguish between a Drawing Object and a Group more prominently, as groups will continue to appear with rectangular bounding boxes.
  • PROJECTOR SUPPORT:
  • Animate now supports publishing ActionScript documents as projector files. Projectors are Animate files that contain both the published SWF and Flash Player. Projectors can play like an ordinary application, without the need for a web browser, the Flash Player plugin, or Adobe AIR.
  • OTHER ENHANCEMENTS:
  • PlaySound() function now returns the sound instance:
  • Code for PlaySound() function generated in the HTML file when you publish the HTML5 Canvas document type has been modified to return the sound instance. This is useful for stopping or pausing any audio instance via frame scripts or event listeners.
  • Audio looping:
  • With the “loop” option turned on in the timeline, you can now loop streaming audio within a range of frames along with other animations.
  • Enhanced Timeline Marker Range manipulation:
  • The following usability improvements have been made to onion skin marker handles:
  • Increased hit area of handles outwards: In earlier versions, dragging the handles was not easy, especially when handles are very close to each other. The increased hit area of handles outwards in this release allow smooth dragging.
  • Appropriate mouse feedback: In this release, when you hover the mouse near marker handles or drags marker handles, the 'resize' cursor appears in place of the normal 'arrow' cursor to show feedback.
  • Combinted CreateJS library for optimized HTML5 performance:
  • Animate CC now uses the latest Combined CreateJS Library instead of the individual libraries that were used in previous versions. This change reduces the number of server calls from published HTML5 Canvas output and improves performance.
  • HTML5 spritesheet UI enhancements:
  • The Publish Settings dialog box for HTML5 Canvas has been revamped in this release. The Spritesheet tab now provides separate controls for PNG ang JPEG settings that are enabled or disabled based on the format that you select.

New in Adobe Animate CC 2014.1 14.1.0.96 (Oct 7, 2014)

  • Animation Guide:
  • The animation guide in Adobe Flash Professional CC now helps you enhance the animation you create by defining a path for the objects you animate. This is particularly helpful when you are working on an animation that follows a path that is not a straight line. This process requires two layers to carry out an animation. One layer containing the object that you are about to animate, and the other defining the path, which the object is supposed to follow during the animation. Animation guide works only on Classic Tweens.
  • Custom Brush:
  • The Brush Tool (B) in Adobe Flash Professional CC allows you to custom-define a brush by setting parameters of the brush such as shape and angle. This enables you to create natural artwork in your projects by customizing the brush tool to suit your drawing needs. You can create a custom brush in Flash Professional by selecting the Brush tool in the toolbox of the Property Inspector.
  • Audio and scripting support in WebGL documents:
  • Audio: The WebGL document type in Flash Professional now supports audio playback. You can import and embed audio into your WebGL document, control the playback via different sync settings (event, start and stop) and play the timeline audio at runtime.
  • Scripting: You can now write Javascript code in the Actions panel, which will be executed on the player enters the frame. The 'this' variable in the context of frame scripts refers to the instance of the MovieClip it belongs to. In addition, frame scripts can access Javascript functions and variables declared in the container HTML file. When you copy a frame or layer from an ActionScript document and paste it in a WebGL document, the scripts will be commented out.
  • Code hinting: The WebGL document type now comes with code hinting support, which eases WebGL coding with contextual code suggestions.
  • Performance: The optimized publishing process for WebGL enables faster publishing. This release also includes several performance enhancements to the WebGL documents that help them run faster on devices.
  • Usability enhancements:
  • The Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical options have been added to the Transform Panel.
  • The context menu has been enhanced by adding the missing options such as Transform, Arrange, and Align.
  • The Motion Editor context menu now contains the Flip option that helps you flip the motion property curves.
  • Publish applications for Intel x86-based Android devices:
  • This release of Flash Professional allows application developers to package their AIR applications in captive as well as shared runtime modes for Intel x86-based Android devices.
  • Publish AIR applications with shared runtime:
  • Starting with this release, application developers can use the shared runtime option for packaging their AIR applications. Shared runtime helps reduce the size of the application as compared to captive runtime, which bundles AIR. When you select the shared runtime option while publishing, the installer downloads the runtime from a specified location during installation.
  • Import SWF files:
  • You can now import SWF files into Flash Professional. The SWF import feature has been one of the most-requested functionalities among the Flash Professional user community. This will help bring assets in a primitive form into Flash Professional for further modifications.
  • However, since SWF is a rendered file, many types of data such as sound, tweens, layering details, and motion paths cannot be reimported into Flash.
