New in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 2015.4 (Jan 28, 2016)

  • Lightroom CC 2015.4 and Lightroom 6.4 are now available on Adobe.com. The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom. This release also includes a new Boundary Warp feature for Creative Cloud members.
  • Introducing Boundary Warp:
  • Stitched panoramas often have non-rectangular boundaries. There are several ways to handle irregular boundaries. The most common approach is to apply a rectangular crop. This is straightforward, but important image details near the boundary may be lost due to cropping. Another approach is to use Content Aware Fill (in Photoshop) to fill in the transparent areas outside the boundary. This can be effective, but may require multiple attempts to obtain a satisfying (smooth, artifact-free) result. It can also be expensive and requires rendering out the panorama to an output-referred(non-raw) format. Boundary Warp is a feature that provides another approach to handling the irregular boundary of panoramas. The feature analyzes the boundary and warps the image so that its edges fit a rectangular frame.

New in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC 2015.2 6.2 (Oct 5, 2015)

  • NEW FEATURES - Lightroom desktop:
  • Dehaze as a Local Adjustment:
  • We added Dehaze as a global adjustment in the Lightroom CC 2015.1 release and are excited to see the widespread interest in the feature. We wanted to extend the functionality, and I’m happy to announce that you can now apply Dehaze as a Local Adjustment. This means that you can use Dehaze with the Radial Filter, Graduated Filter and Local Adjustment Brush.
  • Please note that this feature is not available in the standalone version of Lightroom 6
  • Revamped Import:
  • We redesigned the Import experience to make finding and importing your photos easier and more visual. The redesign was driven by our desire to make the import workflow more explicit and clear. The workflow is 1. Select a source, 2. Select images 3. Choose any import settings (optional) and 4. Import.
  • The revamped Import experience is based on customer feedback and we’re excited to hear what you think.
  • Select a Source: There is a new “Add Photos” screen which scans to identify the potential locations for photos on your hard drive. You can also easily select from a folder, a connected camera (via USB cable), a memory card, external hard drive, or Photoshop Elements catalog.
  • Select images: The Import Dialog has been redesigned. Your source will already be selected (you choose it in step 1) so you can specify which images to import. We recommend importing all.
  • Choose any import settings (optional): While there isn’t a need to change the default settings, you can open the gear icon (on the top right) to adjust and change import settings.
  • Hit the import button.
  • Improvements to “Import from Photoshop Elements” feature:
  • In addition to Import, we’ve revamped the Import from Photoshop Elements experience. Now you can migrate the images from your Photoshop Elements catalog into Lightroom easily. To do so, click on the Photoshop Elements icon in the “Add Photos” screen (step 1 from above). Select the Elements catalog and click the Import button. Lightroom will handle the rest for you automatically.

New in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 5 Beta 1 (Apr 16, 2013)

  • Advanced Healing Brush – Easily remove objects and fix defects - even those with irregular shapes such as threads or lint - with a single brush stroke. Take precise control over what's being removed as you make unwanted objects just disappear.
  • Upright – Straighten tilted images with a single click. Upright analyzes images and detects skewed horizontal or vertical lines. You choose one of four correction methods, and Upright can even straighten images where the horizon is hidden.
  • Radial Gradient – Lead your viewer's eye through your images with more flexibility and control. The radial gradient tool lets you create off-center vignette effects, or multiple vignette areas within a single image.
  • Offline editing with Smart Previews – Easily work with images without bringing your entire library with you. Just generate smaller stand-in files called Smart Previews. Make adjustments or metadata additions to Smart Previews and your changes will be automatically applied to the full-size originals later.
  • Video slideshow sharing – Easily share your work in elegant video slideshows. Combine still images, video clips, and music in creative HD videos that can be viewed on almost any computer or device.
  • Improved photo book creation – Create beautiful photo books from your images. Lightroom includes a variety of easy-to-use book templates, and now you can edit them to create a customized look. Upload your book for printing with just a few clicks.

New in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 3.0 Build 677000 Final (Jun 8, 2010)

  • Superior noise reduction:
  • Achieve amazing, natural-looking results from your high ISO images with all-new state-of-the-art noise reduction technology. You won't need more than what's built into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 to get the cleanest images at any ISO.
  • Lens correction:
  • Quickly and easily perfect your images by automatically reducing lens defects like geometric distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting with single-click profiles. Even images from the best lenses will be improved.
  • Accelerated performance:
  • Get your digital photography tasks done fast and have more time to shoot and promote your work. Already quick performance has been dramatically accelerated in Lightroom 3, saving you time from first look to final image.
  • Flickr integration:
  • Use Lightroom almost seamlessly with Flickr, a Yahoo! service. Upload your images directly to Flickr from within the Lightroom 3 Library. When friends or clients post comments and ratings on your Flickr galleries, you can immediately see their feedback in the Lightroom 3 Library alongside your images
  • Support for DSLR video files:
  • Take advantage of new support for video files from most digital SLR cameras, which allows you to easily manage and organize both still photographs and video files side by side.
  • Image watermarking:
  • Easily embed your identity or your brand and logo in your images with more options for customizing their look. The new watermarking tool lets you apply text or graphic watermarks to a photo with adjustable size, position, and opacity.
  • Easy-to-share slide show videos with music:
  • Show your images to clients, friends, or family with more style and flair using elegant slide shows with music. Slide shows are a breeze to create, and you can share them easily by exporting them as videos, even in high definition.
  • Tethered shooting:
  • Instantly import and view images as you shoot them with tethered capture, available for select cameras. Use it to make an immediate, highly detailed check of your shot, the lighting, or the shooting setup. Or get instant feedback from clients or subjects.
  • Easy image importing:
  • Save time with fast image importing. The newly designed import interface is easy to set up and navigate, with clear visual indications of where your photos will be located and how they'll be organized after you've imported them.
  • Perspective correction:
  • Get more natural-looking results by applying powerful, nondestructive perspective correction to your images. Reduce or eliminate the distortion that can occur, for example, when you take a photograph with the camera pointed upward, causing buildings to appear to be leaning backward in your image.
  • Film grain simulation:
  • Use new sliders to easily control the amount, size, and roughness of grain that you can add to your images to simulate the look of film.
  • More flexible print packages:
  • Showcase your work in more creative formats using highly customizable print layouts, which you can save as reusable templates. With the new custom print layout creation tool, you just drag one image or several shots onto a page and resize or reposition them as you like.

New in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 2.0 Build 481478 (Jul 29, 2008)

  • Multi-monitor support: Open a view of the Library in a second window that can be displayed on a second monitor. Keep this window open while youre working in any module, making it easier to view and select photos to edit or present.
  • Streamlined Library browsing: A reorganized layout in the Library module makes it easier to manage your photos. A Volume Browser lets you check the status of local and networked volumes at a glance. The new Library Filter bar in the Grid view lets you find photos by metadata criteria; attributes such as ratings, labels, and flag status; or a text search of indexed metadata fields. See View information in the Volume Browser and Find photos using the Library Filter bar.
  • Simplified keywording: The Keywording panel and new Keyword List panel are both on the right side of the Library module, making it easier to add, apply, and manage keywords. A new keyword set suggests similar keywords for photos whose capture times are in proximity.
  • Support for larger file sizes: Work with files up to 65,000 pixels long or wide, up to 512 megapixels.
  • Local color adjustments: Make exposure, brightness, clarity, and other adjustments on specific areas of a photo by using the Adjustment Brush tool or the Graduated Filter tool.
  • Output creations: Save settings from the Slideshow, Print, and Web modules with a collection so that you can easily return to those settings for a group of photos.
  • Smart collections: Create smart collections based on metadata rules that you specify. Smart collections automatically stay up-to-date with the photos that meet the criteria you specify.
  • Postcrop vignette: Apply a vignette effect to a cropped photo.
  • Tighter integration with Adobe Photoshop: Open photos from Lightroom in Photoshop more quickly and as a Smart Object. Merge multiple photos to panorama, merge multiple high dynamic range (HDR) photos, or open multiple photos as one layered file in Photoshop. When you return to Lightroom, edited images are automatically added to the catalog.
  • New print options: Create print layouts, called picture packages, that contain one photo in a variety of sizes on a page. Enjoy improved output sharpening, and print to a JPEG file for your print service provider.
  • Improved performance: Lightroom 2.0 makes better use of multiple processors for faster display of thumbnails and photos, and supports 64-bit systems running Windows Vista and Mac OS.
  • Output SDK: A Software Development Kit allows third parties to create plug-ins that enhance Lightroom functionality for exporting photos, creating web photos galleries, and adding custom metadata.
