What's new in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21

Nov 26, 2011
  • Fixed blue screen during uninstall with Traffic Shaper XP if user limit was previously exceeded.

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21 beta 6 (Nov 26, 2011)

  • Fixed server lockup when maximum number of statistics were reached (1000).
  • Changed traffic window so that inter-LAN connections are displayed. In
  • previous versions they were only shown when there was a rule that covered
  • the traffic stream.
  • Removed address range 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 from the list of private
  • address ranges. The private address ranges are used by the product when detecting
  • LAN-facing and Internet-facing adapters after installation. Even though the
  • 10.x.x.x range is technically a private IP address space, it is used by many
  • cable companies to provide public IP addresses to users. The fix prevents
  • WAN adapter from being falsely detected as LAN.
  • Fixed local and remote port columns not being displayed in the traffic window.

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21 beta 5 (Nov 26, 2011)

  • Fixed blue screen fault that occurred on some systems just after installation.
  • ('IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL' error).
  • Fixed fault where the traffic tab loaded too many connections, causing
  • a memory access error in the manager application.
  • Added support for 802.1Q packets (VLAN tagging). Previously it was being
  • handled with a protocol of 'Other'. It now shows up as the proper underlying
  • protocol (TCP, UDP etc.).
  • If the user limit is exceeded the list of local IP addresses is now written to
  • the event log file.

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21 beta 4 (Nov 26, 2011)

  • Added new documentation that is up to date with the changes in v1.21 .
  • Fixed network adapter orientation not being saved after reboot.
  • Added port groups which work similarly to address groups. A single rule
  • can now limit a group of unrelated port values rather than just a port range.
  • The server can hold up to 100 port groups and each group can contain up
  • to 64 ports and port ranges.
  • Fixed fault where it would not be possible to add a new address in
  • the address list window (there was no error message, the address
  • just wouldn't be added).
  • Fixed traffic monitor where connections would not be listed properly
  • when using the new 'Group Connections' option.
  • Fixed history graph in connnection window where upload and download
  • graphs were being swapped.
  • Fixed scheduling items that use a megabyte trigger. After the trigger
  • expired there would be a message written to the event log constantly.
  • Fixed delete toolbar button where it would delete the selected rule
  • even if the scheduling tab was open, rather than the selected
  • scheduling item.
  • Fixed Full Speed LAN range where an IP address of 255.255.255.255 would
  • be saved as 0.0.0.0 .

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21 beta 3 (Nov 26, 2011)

  • Added support for subdomain matching for rules that use domain names.
  • Added Scheduling tab to manager window. Scheduling items are now managed in the new tab rather than within the rule properties tab.
  • Added Statistics tab to manager window. It displays the statistics for all rules,
  • including statistics and quota information for dynamic rule users.
  • Fixed duplicate statistics from appearing.
  • Fixed transfer limit not being updated on server for dynamic scheduling items.
  • Fixed 'Send queue full' error.
  • Added domain name cache on server to reduce DNS load.
  • Fixed fault with new scheduling items not being added to the server correctly
  • in some cases.

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.21 Beta 2 (Oct 16, 2007)

  • Added 'Both' direction for rules
  • Fixed issue with installer where driver would not be removed when performing an upgrade (without manually uninstalling the old version first). This resulted in logged error messages of 'Kernel Component wrong version' or 'Timed out wating for driver to
  • Fixed '[unknown]' being displayed as the address in the traffic monitor when a connection's domain name could not be found. It now displays the IP address instead
  • Added network adapter wizard that runs and the end of installation
  • Added Peer tab to manager that shows a list of computers within the distributed mode array. This replaces the old peer list window that was accessible from the View menu
  • Added grouping for connections within the traffic monitor that are two halves of the same connection. It can be enabled or disabled by right clicking the traffic window and selecting 'View', 'Group upload and download'
  • Fixed peer speed calculation. It was reporting usage of 25% more than the actual value
  • Changed network adapter configuration in Options window. All adapters are now configured within a single tab rather than a separate tab for each one
  • Changed LAN settings in Options window. It has been moved from the Internet tab to a separate one
  • Added Internal Statistics window that shows the current internal state of the server
  • Fixed Windows Event Log messages where a generic error message was being displayed before the actual log text

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.16 (Mar 22, 2007)

  • Increased global queue size from 500 to 4096 packets. There are two global queues per adapter, one for send and one for receive. So each adapter now has a total queue size of 8192 packets.
  • Increased maximum number of rules from 25 to 200 for standard edition.
  • Fixed invalid "maximum user's reached" warning when starting service.
  • Fixed error when creating a rule from a connection in the traffic window (was unable to fill endpoint addresses).
  • Fixed error when changing a rule endpoint from an address or address group to 'any'.
  • Fixed dynamic statistics displaying both directions instead of just the direction for the rule it applied to.
  • Fixed service and client running two processes each, they are now integrated into a single service process and a single client executable process. Was causing an error of "A service process other than the one launched by the Service Control Manager connected ..." when starting the service.

New in Bandwidth Controller Enterprise 1.08 RC (Oct 10, 2006)

  • Fixed network adapters not showing in list if one of them was invalid
