March 6th, 2012· The realtime anti-malware protection engine has been re-developed from the ground up to work faster while still hitting risks hard. Notifications are now less intrusive and removing threats are easier than ever.
· A new, simplified user interface allows you to access all the features of Element Anti-Virus from one window, which allows for instant access to the most crucial of tasks. This interface takes advantage of new hardware acceleration abilities offered by Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems whilst maintaining compatibility with Windows XP.
· A major new feature, Collective Intelligence has been introduced. Collective Intelligence gathers information on-the-fly about any threats that are detected on our user's computers, and information about those threats are sent to the Element Software Network (ESNet). This information helps us deliver, quick, on access removal algorithms to your copy of Element Anti-Virus which makes zero-day threats very easy to detect and remove quicker than ever before.
· Using Collective Intelligence, Element Anti-Virus 2012 can now display Internet Risk levels - an assesment made by the Element Software Network which gives a highly accurate insight into how widespread threats currently are, by which country and what specific malware you could be most at risk of intercepting. Therefore, with this new knowledge, Element Anti-Virus puts itself on alert to seek out the most prevelant of malware.
· A new security feature, Network Intrusion Prevention, allows Element Anti-Virus to monitor network activity for any possible intrusion attempts and will stop such attempts. This feature offers a both inbound and outbound firewall. A new tool for advanced users is also avaliable with this feature - the Network Intrusion Prevention Monitor, allows you to monitor internet traffic packets and configure firewall rules.
· An optional feature, Customer Experience Improvement, allows usage statistics to be sent while you use Element Anti-Virus to help Element Software improve the product in the future. This setting can be configured from within ESNet options.
· A new security feature, Dimmed Startup is enabled by default. Dimmed started locks your computer until Element Anti-Virus is sure that all protection components are started up correctly and that no rootkits are present on your system.

April 8th, 2011New / Improved Features:
· The System Monitor has had a radical overhaul, and now works in conjunction with Element Anti-Virus' new Background Intelligence and System Performance Monitoring features to help combat performance problems, and help identify malicious or adnormal program activity.
· As explanied above, a new feature, Background Intelligence, allows you to change the protection mode of Element Anti-Virus to help make your programs run better whilst ensuring your computer receives the maximum protection against risks at all times. This new feature is available on the Protection Center, on the 'Intelligence' icon. The default protection mode is 'Normal mode'.
· Automatic System Performance Monitoring now allows Element Anti-Virus to monitor CPU cores and RAM usage for abnormal program activity. It can also highlight abnormal processes which may be slowing down your computer. System Performance Monitoring is off by default.
· Additional improvements have been made to Element Anti-Virus' scanning abilities. You can now define advanced settings (accessible from the Advanced settings control panel) for scans. You can now define whether you want Element Anti-Virus to run a scan on schedule, exclude certain file types from being scanned, as well as define scanning behavior such as scanning using Heuristics and Archives.
· You can now define the default actions Element Anti-Virus takes when combating malware. This includes Element Anti-Virus' decision whether it should move objects to the quarantine or delete them immediately. This is based on the risk level, so that you can change each risk level action manually.
· New low-level features include Data Execution Prevention Assistance, which works alongside your computer's processor hardware DEP ability to stop malicious software attacking reserved memory locations. This feature requires a hardware DEP capable processor. Also, Element Anti-Virus now monitors client-side scripts, such as ActiveX scripts in Internet Explorer, and can stop malicious activity in these scripts from taking place. This also extends to scripts in Microsoft Word documents, for example. Both of these new features can be enabled or disabled in the Policies section in Advanced settings.
· A new version of the Element Anti-Virus Rootkit detection feature has been introduced, which now allows users to run an independent rootkit scan (previously a rootkit scan could only be run within a scan such as quick scan or full scan).
· Improvements have been made to the PC-Tuneup feature and it's related functions.
· With the help of data compression technology, software update times have been reduced by 80% by average. This includes daily updates released by Element Software. Previously, software updates were sent to consumers in an uncompressed format. This will now help ensure users that their software will be kept up to date as quickly as possible.
· Additional aethistic updates have been made, such as hue coloring and an updated Element Anti-Virus logo (Since Element Anti-Virus was re-branded in March 2011)
· Performance improvements have been made throughout the software because of new multi-core threading that has been introduced. Therefore Element Anti-Virus now makes use of all cores in a Dual Core System or Quad Core System. Even on a single core processor, there is no performance hit at any time made by Element Anti-Virus.
· A new Support Center has been introduced which allows users to get support and contact Element Software quicker than before.
Fixes for problems :
· Since almost all reported issues that previously existed in Element Anti-Virus were resolved in the SP2 update, the SP3 update simply combines these changes from the previous update. Therefore, there have not been any exclusive fixes introduced in the SP3 update specifically. If you encounter problems after installing the SP3 update, hotfixes and patches can be provided to users on request by Element Software.
January 11th, 2011New / Improved Features:
· Customized scans.
· An extra addition has been added to the scans option in Element Anti-Virus. You can now choose what area(s) of your computer you wish to scan. Element Anti-Virus also suggests commonly scanned folders for you if you are not sure where to begin. You can also now run multiple scans at the same time without affecting your computer's performance.
· More control over backups.
· It's now easier than ever to quickly create your backup schemes and run multiple backups at the same time, as before you were limited to one backup at a time. There are also some more new suggestions for folders for you to backup, and it's now possible to backup the drive your copy of Windows is installed on.
· Note : It is no longer possible to back up files directly to CDs or DVDs without the CD or DVD RAM feature enabled on DVD/CD writer drives. You will need a CD/DVD writer drive that supports the RAM (Act like a Flash drive) feature. (Also known as Live File System in Windows Vista / 7).
· More control over advanced features.
· Element Anti-Virus 2011 SP2 now allows users to perform a backup of core Windows system files at any time, and restore them in case of system failure. Previously, Element Anti-Virus would perform a backup of critical Windows system files automatically and only in safe mode would it allow users to restore system backups.
Fixes for problems:
Element Anti-Virus 2011 SP2 represents Element Software's extensive work and efforts in making Element Anti-Virus the most robust and effective security package on the market. Service Pack 2 resolves the following problems:
· An issue in which clicking the Quarantine button when a risk has been detected did not move the risk to the quarantine under certain circumstances. This issue has been resolved.
· An issue in which clicking the Allow program button when a risk has been detected did not allow the program to run under certain circumstances. This issue has been resolved.
· Notable usability improvements have been made to the Website Safety report feature and random crashes relating to this feature have been resolved.
· An issue in which Windows Security Center would report Element Anti-Virus as running when Element Anti-Virus real-time protection is turned off has been resolved. Windows Security Center now reports the correct status report for Element Anti-Virus.
· Defragmentation would not complete successfully or not take place at all because the defragmentation executable was not being elevated (or being asked to by User Account Control in Windows Vista / Windows 7). This issue has been resolved.
· In some cases, a full system scan would not complete successfully under certain scenarios. This issue has been resolved.
· A issue existed in the Help and Support user interface, in which screen elements would not scale properly when resized. This issue has been resolved.
· A generic 'Microsoft.NET Framework' dialog would appear randomly if too many actions were being carried out at one time. This issue has been resolved.
· Performance improvements have been made to the real-time protection engine. Service Pack 2 also introduces thread throttling to malware protection components to keep system performance at a maximum.
· Certificate related errors in which User Account Control (Windows Vista / Windows 7) would not recognize secure Element Anti-Virus executable files. This issue has been resolved.

August 11th, 2010· Installation time has been reduced, updates are now downloaded after
· the product has been installed.
June 9th, 2010· Element TotalProtect 2011's pro-active defence was re-written in this release to provide protection against zero-day threats, using advanced heuristic scanning algorithms. So not only does Element TotalProtect protect against known, categorized threats, provided by our definitions, it can make highly accurate guesses against suspicious files which can protect you further if the file in question has not been analysed yet.
· Its user interface is task oriented and designed to fit in immediately with your new Windows 7 operating system. Element TotalProtect 2011 was tested against Windows 7 since its early beta stages, and is one of the first internet security packages that was designed to natively support Windows 7 from the start.
· It's more modulated. To save the program from the program itself, AKA Feature Creep, we've modulated the software using a powerful framework, so the entire code runs in user mode level, not kernel mode level as it previously did. All current anti-virus programs on the market do not run in user level mode, and must continuously patch the kernel (Using Kernel Patch Protection) which causes bottlenecks. Element TotalProtect does not do this, so all bottlenecks are avoided, without reducing system security.
· Complete Identity protection revamp- You can now erase all tracks and cookies from all major browsers, and Element TotalProtect can do this natively without having to change any settings in your browsers. You can call this Global Private Browsing mode, if you will. Also, we've revamped the strictness of Identity Protection in Internet Explorer, and added a new password safe, which only you can access, and which can be stored anywhere on your machine, or usb memory stick. There's also our Secure File shredder, which can remove files that you do not wish anyone to gain
· access to.
· More control over settings- Element TotalProtect 2010 limited the user's choice for defining component settings. Element TotalProtect 2011 removes this limitation.
· User Mode firewall - Some problems exisited in Element TotalProtect 2010 which caused some internet connections to go down. We've super improved the firewall specification in Element TotalProtect 2011 to avoid any issues like these, by running the firewall in user mode, not kernel mode.
· Patches Exploits in Windows - Element TotalProtect 2011's immunization feature has been improved to not only patch against bad websites and software, it can also detect unpatched exploits in Windows and downloads the relevant updates from Microsoft to guard against them.
· Predictive scan - Using our heuristic algorithms, Element TotalProtect can predict a malware's behaviour and take necessary action against it.
· Improved backup and restore - It's been improved to allow further customization of backups and easy 1-click options.
