  • The interface now restores the previous zoom level when closing and reopening.
  • The interface now remembers the previous manual threshold value for each band when you switch between auto and manual mode.
  • Added Use Accessible Colors item to the Help menu, toggling to a brighter color for spectrum collisions.
  • Improved rotational drag mode for knobs to avoid unexpected sudden changes.
  • For newly installed plug-ins on Mac, factory presets will now be saved in the user's Documents folder, in FabFilter/Presets.
  • Fixed issues with text input for controls when running in Pro Tools, on macOS Big Sur and Monterey.
  • Improved Full Screen mode on Mac when using multiple monitors: the menu bar and the dock will now remain visible on other monitors. Fixed an issue with Timeless 3 and Volcano 3 where dialogs (e.g. Save As for presets) would not show up in Full Screen mode. The camera area on a 16" MacBook Pro will not overlap the full-screen area anymore.
  • Fixed a bug that caused keyboard shortcuts (e.g. the space bar) not to work in Reaper on Windows after using the mouse wheel and not moving the mouse.
  • The Windows installers now remember the VST2 folder location that was last used.
  • Small bug fixes and improvements.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 3.17 (Dec 10, 2020)

  • Fixed interface size issues in Cubase 10 when using 150% High DPI scaling on Windows.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 3.10 (Feb 21, 2019)

  • Added optional external side chain triggering to EQ bands. To use this, first click on the Auto Threshold button above the dynamic range ring to enable custom threshold mode. Next to the threshold slider, click the new External Side Chain button to enable or disable triggering on the external side chain input.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 3.01 (Dec 3, 2018)

  • What's new:
  • Fixed a bug that caused all VST instances of Pro-Q 3 to open with default parameter settings when opening a previously saved session in Ableton Live. Note: sessions were actually saved correctly, so when using this updated version, these sessions will load successfully.
  • Fixed a bug (only on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11) that could cause random parameter jumps when dragging an EQ band in the display, while holding down one of the modifier keys.
  • Fixed a bug that would make it impossible to select an external spectrum in the analyzer panel when using the VST3 version of Pro-Q 3 in Studio One on Mac (and possibly in other hosts as well).
  • Fixed a bug that could cause an unexpected jump in frequency when dragging multiple EQ bands with a specific combination of settings.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when creating and dragging a band, and then using the mouse wheel in combination with modifier keys.
  • Improved how instances are sorted by name in the list of external spectrums in the analyzer panel.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.02 (Dec 30, 2014)

  • Added Retina High DPI support on Windows.
  • Introducing Solo Gain. While soloing a band, you can now adjust the listening gain by moving the mouse up and down.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Gain Scale slider (in the output section) not to work in Linear Phase mode, and improved its behavior in Natural Phase mode.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.23 (Jul 13, 2013)

  • Fixed a bug that could cause typed parameter values to be rounded incorrectly, e.g. when double-clicking a knob to enter a frequency value.
  • Fixed a bug in the AAX plug-ins: after deactivating a bypassed plug-in in Pro Tools, the state of the bypass parameter would not be restored correctly on reactivation.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.22 (Jun 22, 2013)

  • Now includes 64-bit AAX plug-in for Pro Tools 11. The 32-bit AAX plug-in has also been updated to the latest AAX v2 format and requires Pro Tools 10.3.5 or later.
  • Changing parameters via the mouse wheel will now correctly record automation and generate proper undo states. In addition, you can now also control switches with the mouse wheel.
  • In the presets menu, changed the Options > View Program/Bank Numbers command to Enable MIDI Program Changes, which now actually enables/disables MIDI program changes as well as showing the program/band number for presets. This ensures that the plug-in only responds to MIDI program changes when this is desired.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause mouse wheel changes for multiple selected bands to affect one band only.
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent sample-accurate processing of recorded MIDI control change messages.
  • Fixed a bug on OS X that could cause Help Hints to pop up even if the mouse cursor was outside the plug-in interface.
  • Fixed a bug on Windows that could cause a system sound to be played when pressing Enter after typing a parameter value directly.
  • Various small bug fixes and improvements.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.20 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Added new GPU-powered graphics acceleration, ensuring ultra-smooth animation while leaving the main CPU free to do audio processing.
  • When multiple bands are selected, the Frequency, Gain and Q knobs will now let you change parameters of the selected bands while preserving their relative differences. Double-clicking a knob still lets you set all bands to the same value.
  • The Output level parameter that is displayed in the bottom bar now includes an additional decimal of precision.
  • Added mouse wheel support to buttons with pop-up menus, such as the band shape and slope buttons.
  • Slightly improved CPU usage.
  • Added Options > Open Other Preset option to the presets menu, making it easy to open a preset that's not in the regular presets folder.
  • Updated the VST 3 plug-in to support new features in VST 3.5, such as a host-provided right-click menu for each parameter in the interface.
  • Fixed compatibility issues with Adobe Premiere on Windows and OS X.
  • Fixed a bug on Windows that caused factory preset installation to fail if your user name contains special characters.
  • Fixed a bug in the mono AudioSuite plug-in that caused the Whole File option at the bottom to be disabled.
  • Fixed a bug in the mono AU and VST 3 plug-ins that could cause it to work with an internal sample rate of 44.1 kHz even if the session sample rate was different.
  • Fixed incorrect interpretation of parameter values that are typed in the host (e.g. for automation points) in the VST 2 and VST 3 plug-ins.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the "Pre" frequency analyzer to use slightly incorrect input values in Mid/side mode (so it would not totally overlap the Post curve).

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.13 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Fixed a bug that caused the stereo RTAS version of the plug-in to output a mono signal.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.12 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Added new AAX plug-in format for Pro Tools 10. The AAX plug-in is 100% compatible with the RTAS plug-in: Pro Tools 10 will automatically use our new AAX plug-ins instead of the existing RTAS plug-ins when loading existing sessions.
  • Improved the real-time spectrum analyzer: it is now more responsive and has a smoother curve release, making it easier to visually follow the curves over time. In addition, the combined Pre+Post setting now compensates the plug-in latency correctly in Linear Phase mode.
  • Added support for the most important Pro Tools hardware control surfaces, such as Avid ICON D-Control and D-Command. Because you need a fixed number of bands in FabFilter Pro-Q to use this effectively, we have added a new Flat 7 Bands factory preset that can be used as your personal default preset.
  • Improved Solo mode to transparently limit its output volume to -6 dB, avoiding undesired volume spikes at all times.
  • In the AU and VST3 plug-in formats, parameters are now grouped per band to make automation easier to overview in the host.
  • Improved keyboard handling on Windows, fixing the "space key stealing" problem in Studio One and FL Studio.
  • Improved mouse handling behavior in Pro Tools when Cmd+Ctrl / Ctrl+Win -clicking a control to show the automation timeline.
  • Fixed bug that caused an artificial roll-off to 0 Hz in the real-time spectrum analyzer.
  • Fixed bug when dragging multiple bands in the EQ display that could cause small round-off errors in the frequency parameter values relative to each other.
  • Fixed bug that caused Solo mode to function incorrectly on per-channel bands as soon as you changed the frequency of the band while in Solo mode.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.11 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Fixed a bug that could cause the plug-in to remain in bypassed state after bypassing and re-enabling it via the bypass button provided by the host.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.10 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Added a Notch filter type, which makes it possible to cut very narrow bands in the frequency spectrum. Double-clicking at the lowest part of the EQ display will create a Notch band right away, instead of the usual Bell band.
  • Added an intelligent Solo mode for EQ bands. Click and hold the solo button (in the parameter value display) to enter solo mode for the current EQ band. Now, you don't hear the effect of the EQ band itself, but instead you will hear the part of the frequency spectrum that is being affected by that band. Of course, the frequency range depends on the frequency and Q settings, and is visualized in the display as well.
  • Improved the spectrum analyzer with smoother curves, a combined Pre+Post mode and customizable resolution and speed settings, accessible via the Analyzer drop-down menu in the bottom bar of the plug-in.
  • Added a 3dB display range, useful for mastering purposes.
  • Added a small output level and clipping indicator in the bottom bar.
  • Improved the EQ display's rollover behaviour: the parameter value display is now shown much earlier when you approach an EQ curve point, making it easier to view the band's settings and use the new Solo button.
  • In addition to the RTAS format, the plug-in is now also available in the AudioSuite format for Pro Tools.
  • The plug-in is now Unicode-aware and correctly handles international characters on both Windows and Mac OS X, for example in preset folders and file names.
  • Improved the way parameter values with custom ranges and transforms are shown by Audio Unit hosts and Pro Tools (e.g. for automation purposes).
  • Added a Deauthorize option to the plug-in's Help menu, which makes it easy to delete your license key from a computer if needed.
  • Fixed possible audible "plops" when selecting a different filter shape in an EQ band.
  • Fixed bug when Shift-dragging multiple selected points: this could accidentally deselect some of the points.
  • Fixed incorrect redrawing in the plug-in interface that could occur in some cases in Pro Tools on Mac, for example when selecting from the Pro Tools-provided presets menu in the plug-in header.
  • Fixed bug that caused the help file to open only in the first instance of the plug-in.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.04 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Fixed possible audible artifacts when enabling/disabling EQ bands.
  • Fixed bug that caused dragging multiple EQ bands to create more than one undo state.
  • Fixed right-click popup menu that wasn't working in the 64-bit Mac plug-ins.
  • When typing parameter values in Reaper on Windows, the Enter key now correctly closes the edit field.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.03 (Nov 30, 2012)

  • Added native 64-bit VST 2/3 and Audio Units plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS X.
  • The EQ display no longer looks disabled when the plug-in is bypassed via the host: this turned out to be distracting with certain hosts (like Digital Performer) that bypass plug-ins automatically when there is no input signal.
  • It is now possible to have the spectrum analyzer on by default, by overwriting the Default Setting preset after the desired spectrum analyzer value and any other desired default parameters settings have been set.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.02 (Jan 19, 2010)

  • Fixed several issues in the EQ display when changing the Q value of multiple selected curves, especially when they have both negative and positive gain values.
  • Fixed bug that caused disabling EQ bands not to work in the mono version of Pro-Q.
  • The parameter value display in the EQ display is now positioned correctly when dragging multiple selected curves.
  • Double-clicking on a knob and typing a new parameter value now correctly adds a new Undo state.
  • Improved the 'constrained drag' mode (Alt-dragging): it is now much easier to make small vertical or horizontal changes.
  • Improved the auto-adjust gain range behavior: after the range has been increased, dragging still feels the same as before, and when you switch back to the original range, the mouse cursor will end up at the original position as well.
  • Improved the frequency response of the filter curves for low-cut and high-cut filter shapes.
  • Fixed a possible crash when starting to Alt- or Ctrl+Alt-drag a curve when no curve is selected at all.

New in FabFilter Pro-Q 1.01 (Jan 19, 2010)

  • Fixed a bug that caused some loss of precision in calculations. This update drastically reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD).
  • Fixed a bug in the mono AU and VST3 versions, that caused the plug-in to be unable to report latency changes to the host.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause unwanted 'plops' when disabling and enabling EQ bands at lower frequencies.
  • Fixed possible crash in linear-phase processing mode.
  • Added mouse wheel handling for Q changes in the interactive EQ display.
