  • Main bug fixes:
  • Preview would not update when changing a parameter value

  • New features:
  • New Painting 11 advanced painterly effect, which allows custom brushes (transparent png images)
  • In addition to Painting 4, possibility to run Painting 9 (watercolor) and the new Painting 11 on the current image, without starting from a blank canvas. This allows much more versatility and is supported in the scripting engine
  • Parameter files and script files made with older versions of FotoSketcher can be loaded
  • Directories for loading and saving images are saved, allowing easier navigation
  • Directories for loading and saving scripts and custom brushes are also saved

New in FotoSketcher 3.80 (Aug 15, 2021)

  • Larger preview area (21% larger) with a new rotating "in progress" icon
  • Painting 4 can now run without erasing the previous painting. This can be useful to mix effects or to start with broad brushtrokes and then load finer brushes and run the effect again. To run Painting 4 without erasing the previous image, RIGHT-CLICK on the Draw button instead of left-clicking.
  • The scripting function (press the F5 function key to open the window) can also run the Painting 4 effect without erasing the result image. Just add the line "Don't erase background" before adding a Painting 4 effect line in your script.
  • Painting 4 now has an svg export (once the effect has finished, a SVG button will appear, below the HD button). This exports the basic rectangles, not the brushstrokes.
  • Pencil Sketch 1 has been refined (less blurry)
  • Custom transparent PNG frames are now supported, with 'autofit' and full preview
  • In the "modify source image" dialog box (F9 function key), a new icon is displayed on the saturation line. When clicked, it will automatically improve color vibrancy of the source image.
  • Custom brush directory for Painting 4 is now saved between sessions
  • A new language is now supported, Danish, thanks to the translation by Kenneth TOLLUND
  • Lot's of small UI enhancements and bug fixes
  • All versions (32bit, 64bit, portable and setup) are now digitally signed for added security and hopefully fewer false positive from antiviruses

New in FotoSketcher 3.70 (Sep 21, 2020)

  • Bug fix list:
  • solved the occasional error message in French at startup ("n'est pas une valeur entière")
  • solved the issue where on a few machines (on some PCs and Macs using WineHQ), the optimized code for rotating images and brushes did not work correctly (it breaks Pencil Sketch 1 and Painting 4).
  • for Linux and MacOS users, FotoSketcher should now run correctly under WineHQ and Crossover
  • fixed the drop down menus and icons which did not appear correctly in WineHQ
  • in Painting 4, the directory for custom brushes is now saved to avoid unnecessary navigating between folders
  • the main window position is now saved between uses
  • fixed the dropdown effects menu which sometimes prevented using the vintage or the merge images effect
  • fixed the Pencil Sketch 2 preview which was not accurate
  • probably added a bunch new bugs. Will fix in v3.80 ;)

New in FotoSketcher 3.30 (Feb 1, 2017)

  • Here are the new features in v3.30:
  • new draggable cursor to interrupt an effect at x% (useful for some effects where the result can be interesting before reaching 100%)
  • possibility to load your own brushes for Painting 10 (in transparent .png format) and render with twice larger brushstrokes
  • new abstract effect (great for desktop wallpapers or phone and tablet backgrounds)
  • option to save the effect number and parameters used in the filename (e.g. "FotoSketcher_Image1_Painting10 (brushtrokes)_50_50_50_130_130_130.png". To enable this function, either manually edit the fotosketcher.ini file (change the last line from False to True) or while in FotoSketcher, press the 'END' key.
  • user interface improvements:
  • cleaner splash screen
  • better window management (when the application is maximized)
  • new simpler panel backgrounds
  • more legible text for high dpi screens

  • This version has better Windows 10 support, improved memory management (Pencil Sketch 1 and Linear Halftoning), a new popup window previewing each effect and various bug corrections.

  • This version adds a popup preview window next to the drop down list of effects, improves Windows 10 compatibility and memory management and also solves a number of bugs.

  • I have also optimized Pencil Sketch 1, which can now process larger images than before without giving an out of memory error (I have successfully tested on a 7000x4000 pixels image).

  • I have also vastly optimized Pencil Sketch 1, which can be up to 3 times faster than before and can run on larger images before giving an out of memory error (I have successfully tested on a 7000x4000 pixels image).

New in FotoSketcher 3.10 (Jul 23, 2015)

  • the DPI default value has been set to 300 for better printing quality.
  • although transparency in PNG images (alpha channel) is not supported by FotoSketcher, transparent pixels will no longer appear black. They will now be converted to white pixels.
  • the donation screen (coffee cup icon) has been simplified and will lead to a unified PayPal screen.
  • when using JPG images, the compression quality has been improved for fewer artifacts (save to PNG or BMP if you want maximum image quality).
  • a visual bug with the Emergence 2 effect has been corrected. Sometimes the preview image would be pasted to the main result image in the top left corner.
  • some z-order problems have been solved.
  • a memory leak has been hunted down and solved.
  • when running a script (F5), FotoSketcher will be automatically minimized until the end of the process. If you wish to see the script running, just click on the FotoSketcher icon in the Windows task bar.

New in FotoSketcher 3.00 (Mar 9, 2015)

  • New features and changes in version 3.00:
  • Integration of the "invert colors" function in the script mode (F5)
  • New keyboard shortcuts (left, right and up keys) to move the divider between the left and right panes. Works when the main window is focused, even if an effect is running.

  • Solves a few cosmetic problems, and also adds a new "X 2" button for Painting 7 (brushstrokes), which doubles the maximum brush size. This is useful for large images to retain a painterly look.
