    InSight 4.2 - Changelog

    What's new in InSight 4.2:

    September 1st, 2009

    · New: Added descriptive tooltips to the Windows tray area context menu of the Snatcher.
    · New: When the Snatcher is started, a warning pop up will now remind the user if the "Insert at Cursor" option is checked. This provides an opportunity to change this setting or to make sure the cursor is at the position where the new text is expected.
    · New: The editing field in the Snatcher wizard supports font styles, and other keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+Y to delete a line, Ctrl+K to capitalize words as a headline, Ctrl+L for lowercase, text indent and unindent, and others as in the editor, including the use of abbreviations [registered version].
    · New: The Snatcher dialog now pops up right under the mouse cursor, which is a more convenient position.
    · New: Added a "Look for Updates" menu item, under the Help menu group [registered version]. When clicked, it will check the dataomega website for available updates.
    · New: The "Go to Folder" command displays the target folder centered on the tree and highlighted blue for more clarity (instead of gray). The focus is now left on the tree after this action.
    · New: The "Move to Folder" command, when the user chooses to go to the target folder to see the moved items there, displays the moved items centered on the tree and highlighted blue. The focus is now left on the tree after this action.
    · New: The "Add from Clipboard" command (or "paste topic" action), displays the inserted items highlighted blue. The focus is now left on the tree after this action.
    · Changed: The "Remove Snatcher Separators" command will now leave in place an empty line where the separator was.
    · Changed: The "Dock All Floating Tabs" menu item is now also available in docked windows as well as floating windows.
    · Changed: New Floating windows are now the size of the last closed floating window. Floating windows can be resized by dragging their borders. (Reminder to users of previous versions: in version 4, you float a topic or document by clicking the "Float" menu/button instead of dragging the panel out of the main window as in previous versions.)
    · Fixed: In the "New Topic" dialog, when using the Alt+S accelerator key to add a subtopic, the new topic was not being focused.
    · Fixed: Several stability issues in version 4 were fixed.
    · Fixed: When Alt-selecting a block inside wordwrapped text, the original background image and background color were not being restored after the background was changed to warn the user.
    · Fixed: Replace button in Replace Dialog had the screen cursor changed to an "I" cursor after clicking the button.
    · Fixed: The "Copy" command on the context menu of the Replace Dialog was not working (Ctrl+C shortcut was working fine, though).
    · Fixed: Turning on/off the Show Codes (F11) feature was resetting the Undo buffer.
    · Fixed: Other miscellaneous corrections and improvements.

    What's new in InSight 4.1:

    February 28th, 2009

    · New: Solid Buttons are back! - Version 4.1 supports solid buttons for catalog buttons, document buttons, and topic buttons. The feature can be toggled independently for catalog, document, and topic buttons by right-clicking one button of the group and choosing "Solid Buttons" on the context menu. You can choose to have solid buttons only for topics, but not for catalogs and documents; or any other combination. Solid buttons make it easier for you to distinguish and read the caption of each individual button. You can also combine them with the "Same Size Buttons" option, available on the same context menu, for improved clarity.
New: Keyboard shortcuts were added for the following commands:
    · Ctrl+F9 = Add Log Entry
    · Ctrl+Shift+F9 = Mark as Completed
    · New: The number of opened topics is displayed in the third status bar panel, together with the number of selected topics and total topics in the catalog, enclosed in square brackets. Moving the mouse over the status bar panel displays a tooltip explaining what the numbers are, in case you forget. It is not only very interesting but also practical to be able to tell the number of opened topics at any specific time. Opened topics tend to grow exponentially, resulting in less and less space available for viewing and editing text. Also, the more topics you have opened the longer it takes for the catalog to load, and for InSight to start up the next time. You might be surprised how many topics you have opened in some catalogs!
    · Fixed: Under certain circumstances, toolbars were not correctly painted on startup, resulting in the toolbar being placed on top of the window or parts of the area being transparent until the window was refreshed by minimizing and maximizing it or shifting to other program and then back.
    · Fixed: Spotted and corrected an elusive cause of random Access Violation messages, which could occasionally cause the program to stop responding.
    · Fixed: After copying selected topics from the Search List, when some of them were contained in folders, pasting them caused the inserted topics to appear with unexpected levels of indentation as subtopics of others, instead of being all at the same level.
    · Fixed: On the context menu of topic buttons, the "Highlight Button" menu group was setting the catalog as modified as soon as the menu group was expanded.

    What's new in InSight 4.0:

    December 13th, 2008

    · New: Improved user interface - There is a new look and feel, while keeping the familiar layout, with an emphasis on increasing productivity. The new graphic interface uses less resources, optimizes space, and is even faster than before: loads faster, works faster, and closes faster!

    · New: "Move To Folder" menu group - This much needed feature, on the context menu of the Topic Tree, allows easily moving one or more selected topics to a desired folder, or to the root of the tree.

    · New: "Goto Folder" menu group - Like "Move To Folder" this is a big time saver. Available on the context menu of the Topic Tree, it allows you to visually locate all available folders on the tree and instantly jump to a specific folder, instead of having to scroll up or down the list looking for that folder.

    · New: Improved Topic Visibility - You can more easily see which topics are open on the tree. Their names appear in bold attention-getting type, have a very noticeable icon similar to the one on their topic buttons, and a highlighted light yellow background.

    · New: Global Topic Name Highlighting - When applying color highlighting to a topic button, that topic is also highlighted with that color on the Topic Tree.

    · New: Enhanced and Uniform Display of List Items - The Search and History lists display topics in the same manner as the new Topic Tree, using the special icon and highly visible bold text for topics that are open, and reproducing the color highlighting of topic titles, allowing you to work more efficiently with multiple topics.

    · New: "Strike Out" text style - Text can be crossed out, using the "Strike Out" toggle command (on the context menu, under Font Styles) or its toolbar button.

    · New: Persistent Topic Icons.- Topic icons on the topic tree stay always visible, even when checkboxes are enabled. This makes dragging topics by their icons easier.

    · New: Improved Floating Tabs - Faster and more efficient. To float a topic, there is now a "Float" menu item under the View menu, and a similar toolbar button can be added. (This replaces the dragging method used in earlier versions.)

    · New: Improved Sync Window - Like the new Floating Tabs, the Sync Window is faster, and has a revamped, more solid and intuitive display.

    · New: Topic Path in Status Bar - The status bar displays the path of the topic under the mouse cursor, when moving the cursor over the Topic Tree, Search List or History List. You can easily tell whether a specific topic is contained in one or more folders or subfolders, without scrolling up the tree to find out.

    · New: Floating Windows now support changing Syntax Highlighting.

    · New: Toggle thousand separators in Numbers - Display numbers with thousand separators (1,234,567.89 or 1.234.567,89) as needed by using the "Number Thousand Separator" command (on the context menu, under Font Styles). A toolbar button can be added, for frequent use. When you stumble upon a hard to read number like 1234567890123456789012312 you are going to love this feature. It just helps you make sense of long digits!

    · New: Redesigned Clipboard Capture Wizard - The Snatcher (clipboard capture) wizard has a new interface, simpler, more intuitive and as easy to learn and use as ABC. The wizard's window is now resizable. The "Insert at Cursor" option is remembered from one session to the next, and all options can be edited or changed in either the wizard window or the tray context menu.

    · New: Divide a Block of Text Into Topics - The new "Make Topic Header" command, converts the line of text containing the caret into a topic header title. Thus, you can split a block of text into several new topics, marking specific lines as topic titles (in source format, as you see topics when opening a catalog in another text editor). One particular situation when this comes in handy is after a clipboard capturing session with the Snatcher, in which all text was captured to the same document or you find that part of it would look better distributed into separate topics. The text containing the "hardcoded" headers can then be copied to the clipboard and added to the topic tree using the "Add from Clipboard" command. To successfully add the topic from Clipboard, the first line of the copied text must be the one with the initial token of a header (consisting of "

    What's new in InSight 3.7.1:

    April 15th, 2008

    · New: Square bracket links can jump to text inside the current topic or document. When the link is clicked, the program first looks for a file with that name, then for a topic, and finally for a match in the current text.
    · Fixed: Gutter color can be customized.
    · Fixed: Fine tunings to the "Capitalize words" function.
    · Fixed: Clicking a path to a local web page (.htm/.html) when Firefox was the default browser was not opening the page.
    · Fixed: When pasting text the cursor was, occasionally, being left a few characters before the end of the pasted text.
    · Fixed: "Insert Link to Image" and "Insert Link to File" menu items were no longer working in the previous update.
    · Fixed: Miscellaneous adjustments.

    What's new in InSight 3.2:

    February 26th, 2007

    · New: Help file. The Help has been completely rewritten and updated. It is now in HTML format (Windows Vista compatible) and is also a smaller file, fully indexed, with advanced search capabilities. Topics can be bookmarked using the Favorites tab in the HTML help.
    · The tips in the "Tip of the Day" feature were updated, completely rewritten, and simplified.
    · New: Added a "What is an Outline?" topic with outline samples to the QuickStartGuide.
    · Changed: Intro Wizard for new users edited and enhanced.
    · Changed: Added validation to prevent entering tokens like "::", "||" and ">>" inadvertently entered in topic names.
    · Fixed: "New Topic" and "New Folder" menu items appearing disabled under certain circumstances.
    · Fixed: The SyncWindow toolbar buttons were partly truncated. New, redesigned buttons.
    · Fixed: Topics were not being selected on the tree when opened from a bracket link.
    · Fixed: Application could start minimized when minimized at closing.
    · Fixed: The Find dialog was ignoring the "Whole Words" option.
    · Fixed: The simpler replace dialog introduced in version 3.1 did not have the ability to find and replace inside selected text.
    · Fixed: Miscellaneous adjustments.
