What's new in Intelliscore Ensemble MP3 to MIDI Converter 8.1

Dec 7, 2011
  • Drums in ensembles. IntelliScore can now listen to a recording containing pitched instruments and percussion together and convert it to a multi-track MIDI file containing multiple instruments and multiple drums (Ensemble Edition only). Helps pick out the percussion part from multi-instrument recordings. Previously intelliScore's drum recognition capability was limited to working with solo percussion mix downs.
  • Score Builder. Build a multi-track MIDI score one track at a time by singing or playing a non-MIDI instrument (Ensemble Edition only). First record your playing of a single instrument into intelliScore. After intelliScore converts that track to MIDI, you can record a second instrument track while listening to the first MIDI track playing back. IntelliScore converts the second track to MIDI and combines it with the first track. In this way you can build up to a 16-track MIDI recording. Similar to a 16-track MIDI recorder, except that you record using a non-MIDI instrument or your voice.
  • Lead Sheet Creator. Helps detect the lead part from a multi-instrument audio recording and create a MIDI file containing this lead along with detected chord names (Ensemble Edition only). Assists with about 80% of modern music, depending on how the music was recorded. When combined with lyrics, a lead sheet is the form of document used to describe a song for copyright purposes.
  • Suggests complementary chord names. Record a melody, and intelliScore will write suggested complementing chord names (from a list of 144 chord names) to the MIDI file.
  • Native 64-bit engine. Conversion is twice as fast if your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Vista. Still fully functional on 32-bit versions of XP, Windows 7, and Vista.
  • Faster & more accurate monophonic conversion. Errors are now greatly reduced when your music is monophonic (one note at a time). Monophonic recognition is also 3 times as fast when in real time mode.
  • Mute individual instruments. If your audio contains several instruments but you only want some of them, you can now mute individual instruments within the Ensemble Editor so that those instrument tracks do not appear in the MIDI (Ensemble Edition only).
  • Integrated volume/balance control. If your computer is running Windows XP, the control in the SyncPlayer adjusts the balance between the audio and MIDI playback volumes. For Windows 7 and Vista, it adjusts the combined volume.
  • Note duration names. From the Options window, you can now choose between American or British note duration names.

  • Drum recognition. IntelliScore can now listen to a solo percussion track comprised of several different drums and convert it to a multi-drum MIDI file (Ensemble Edition only). Unlike other products that merely find the beats in recorded audio and trigger a single drum, intelliScore actually listens to the sound of each drum hit and attempts to identify which drum(s) produced each hit. No other product in the world can do this. Several predefined drum kits are included, plus you can create your own.
  • More accurate. IntelliScore now more accurately assigns notes played by different instruments into separate MIDI tracks (Ensemble Edition only). Tempo and polyphonic pitch detection are improved as well. Automatic tempo and meter (time signature) detection helps align the beats and measures for editing in your MIDI notation software if you choose not to tap the beat into intelliScore.
  • Chord names in real time mode. IntelliScore now displays the most likely chord (from a list of 144 chord names) based on the set of notes currently being played. It also writes chord names to MIDI files when converting prerecorded audio.
  • Brightness detection. IntelliScore now detects changes in timbre in monophonic performances and writes them to the MIDI file.
  • AAC & AIFF audio file support. You can now use AAC and AIFF audio files with intelliScore. These file types are commonly used on Apple products such as Macs, iTunes, iPods, and QuickTime. IntelliScore supports CD, WAV, MP3, and WMA files as well.
  • Audio file quality checking. IntelliScore now automatically determines distortion and volume levels of audio files to help ensure the best conversions.
  • Live audio & MIDI device testing. Easily confirms devices are set up correctly for real time mode.
  • Windows 7, Vista, and XP. Fully compatible with Microsoft's latest operating systems. IntelliScore still runs on Windows 2000, Me, and 98SE as well.

  • Improved instrument recognition. IntelliScore knows dramatically more about the characteristics of musical instruments, resulting in greater accuracy in determining which instrument(s) played each note in a multiple instrument recording.
  • Polyphony per instrument. You can now specify the number of notes played at one time by each instrument separately when defining an ensemble, allowing you further control over the resulting MIDI file.
  • Greater realism. IntelliScore now tracks individual pitch bend and volume changes for every monophonic instrument channel even when your music contains multiple instruments, faithfully recreating effects such as pitch bend, vibrato, tremolo, and portamento, so MIDI performances are now more expressive than ever.
  • Enhanced volume accuracy. IntelliScore now produces MIDI files that are louder and more consistent in volume even when your music is recorded at less than optimum volume levels.
  • Higher sample rates supported. IntelliScore now supports all audio file sample rates, above 44100 Hz, down to 11025 Hz, or anywhere in between. It supports MP3, WMA, WAV, and live audio at 8/16/24/32-bit resolution, and monaural or stereophonic.
  • Visual metronome. When you record directly into intelliScore, the metronome is now represented by a visual swinging pendulum as well as an audible clicking sound.
