  • Integration with Adobe Comp CC:
  • Adobe Muse is now integrated with Adobe Comp CC, an app that is available for iPhones and iPads. This app bridges the gap between mobiles and desktops, allowing you to create your layout anywhere, anytime.
  • Comp CC allows you to add components like rectangles, image placeholders, or text boxes by using hand gestures. The app converts these gestures into crisp graphics, enabling you to complete your layout within minutes.
  • Comp CC is also integrated with Creative Cloud Libraries. This means that you can design your menus or labels in an app like Photoshop and use the assets for your Adobe Muse layout. You can also use widgets like Maps or Contact forms from Adobe Muse while wireframing your layout in Comp CC.
  • With the integration of Adobe Muse with Comp CC, you can create a draft of your layout and bring it to Adobe Muse in a single click. You can then add the finishing touches to your layout in Adobe Muse. To know how to use Comp CC with Adobe Muse, see Integration of Adobe Muse with Adobe Comp CC. You can also see a sample workflow on creating an Adobe Muse layout using Comp CC.
  • In-Browser Editing:
  • In-Browser Editing in Adobe Muse now has a new and improved user interface. In-Browser Editing in this version of Adobe Muse supports the following new features:

  • Use the new Asset Collector tool from the Assets panel to move all your assets from one location to another. • Rectangle frames are now responsive by both height and width.

When you select an object in Adobe Muse responsive layout, the Vertical Move Handle appears in the left margin. This handle allows you to simultaneously select and move the selected object and objects below it.
  • Edit Minimum Page Width:

  • You can now add swatches from CC Libraries to the Swatches panel. Further, you can select multiple colors from CC Libraries and add them to the Swatches panel.
  • You can also choose a color from CC Libraries, and set it as Stroke or text color in Adobe Muse.
  • Plan View enhancements:
  • Plan View in Adobe Muse now includes a vertical layout option. Until the previous release, you could view the hierarchy and the structure of your website only in the horizontal view. Now you can simply click (vertical site map display icon) and view complex site plans vertically.
  • Improved Google PageSpeed ranking:
  • Adobe Muse now loads all JavaScript asynchronously. Also, if your site is hosted on an Apache web server and you upload your site using FTP, browser caching for CSS, images, and JavaScript files is enabled. These changes can help improve Google PageSpeed ranking.
  • New and existing sites currently wait for the web fonts to be available before displaying the page. Now, you can choose whether you want to allow your page to load faster using fallback fonts. You can enable this option through the Site Properties dialog box, Advanced tab > Web Fonts menu.
  • Improved Illustrator workflows:
  • You can now directly import Illustrator (.ai) files from your computer, or hard disk into Adobe Muse without exporting them as SVG files first.
  • Image frame enhancements:
  • The new image frame tool in Adobe Muse lets you create both rectangular and elliptical frames. You can now easily create image placeholders for your site, by clicking the frame from the Tools panel, and placing the frames in your Adobe Muse project. You can use the frames to create a wireframe or layout, and fill the frames when your images are finalized.

New in Adobe Muse CC 2015.1.0.2309 (Feb 9, 2016)

  • Responsive Design:
  • Create beautiful responsive websites in a completely free-form manner, allowing you to design visually and without constraints.
  • Build fully responsive sites without having to think like a developer. You don’t have to worry about code -- Muse will make sure your site will look great on virtually all browsers and devices.
  • You can continue to work the way you always have, by adding responsive functionality to your site whenever you want. Existing sites made with earlier versions of Muse will remain unchanged unless you decide to modify them.
  • Muse will facilitate whatever responsive design approach you choose, whether it’s mobile or desktop first.

Select from 45 million assets, save your selection to your Creative Cloud Libraries and then drag it into your website to use.

  • SVG Improvements:
  • Similar to placed images, SVGs now have a parent frame which can be styled and used to crop the SVG if desired. As a result, SVGs can now be added to slideshows. • Improved memory management
  • HiDPI Support for Windows:
  • The Muse User Interface now supports Windows HiDPI displays. The UI artwork is optimized for 100% or 200% display scaling. 150% display scaling is also supported.

  • Missing Fonts - Pink highlights indicate text where the applied font is not available on your system.

  • Custom colors can be set for the Title and Byline text in the Vimeo widget.
  • Added the ability for a MuCOW widget developer to include a color picker control in the widget’s on-object UI. The Vimeo widget improvement above is an example of this new feature of MuCOW widgets.
  • Show or Hide Frame Edges:
  • Adobe Muse now draws a light-colored outline (frame edges) on Objects and Text Frames by default, making it easy for you to see objects that don't have a stroke or fill applied. The color of the frame edge corresponds with the layer on which the object or text frame is placed. When you select or roll over the object or text frame, the frame edge appears darker. To toggle Frame Edges, select View > Show/Hide Frame Edges or Ctrl+H (Windows) / Control+Command+H (MAC).
  • Adobe Muse CC for Enterprise and Education:
  • Enterprise and Education customers can now install Muse as part of the main payload in the Creative Cloud Packager. It’s no longer necessary to use the Exception Deployer on Mac or Windows.
  • Auto-detect FTP Settings - When initiating upload via FTP, Muse gives you the option to automatically detect the most secure publishing option available for your hosting provider.
  • Spend Less Time Reversing Default Styling:
  • New rectangles now default to having no stroke and no fill.
  • Use the "Clear All Styling" option from the context menu to remove all styling applied to an item. When used, the resulting item contains no fill, stroke, or effect, and default text styling.

  • Added Persian to the list of available languages for Sites and Pages. (Site and Page language is used to set default styling and the language used by social widgets.)

  • Site Conversion and Optimization:
  • Muse now displays a progress bar when opening a document
  • Libraries are converted at the first launch of a new version of Muse instead of when first accessing each Library item.
  • Remove excess image data from background images stored in a Muse project. This optimization does not alter the size or quality of images generated by Muse but it does avoid renaming of some background images. This optimization dramatically reduces the total size of some .muse files. It is part of the conversion step when opening older documents. This conversion step may be slow for documents with lots of high resolution background images, but will not have to be run again once the file has been saved. We strongly recommend saving to a new file so that you can continue to use your original document with older versions of Muse and to have as a backup. Because of the reduced size, the performance of many other operations may improve.
  • Business Catalyst:
  • New device detection for redirect to tablet or phone site. Publishing a site with multiple layouts now includes an additional “Redirect” choice in the “Options” section of the Publish dialog. The “Universal Redirect” looks only at screen size and touch screen support to choose a corresponding layout. The “Business Catalyst Redirect” uses a device database. The “Universal Redirect” is the method used for sites not hosted on BC and is now the default for sites hosted on BC.

New in Adobe Muse CC 2014.2.0 (Oct 6, 2014)

  • Import Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG):
  • Adobe Muse now supports Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format. You can leverage the SVG format to create logos, icons, background and browser fills, and more, and place them directly on the web page canvas within Adobe Muse.
  • Graphics saved as SVG format are light and resolution independent, so they can be scaled to large dimensions without affecting and appearance of your site. SVG files are also supported on HiDPI displays.
  • Synchronized text:
  • Adobe Muse allows you to reuse the same text in multiple places on a page, on different pages, and across desktop, tablet and smartphone layouts. With the Synchronized text feature, you can tag text frames using the new Content panel, and drag the tag anywhere on your site to replicate text.
  • When you edit the text, Adobe Muse automatically updates the edited text across all instances of the tag on your website, while leaving all formatting styles (font size and color) unaltered.
  • The Synchronized Text feature greatly increases efficiency and reduces errors. You can reliably place and edit text faster than ever across all layouts. Tagging the text reduces the number of times content is typed and updated.
  • Also, you no longer have to manually search for text in each layout to update it. Update once, and the edit deploys everywhere, while maintaining all of the styles and attributes of each instance, reducing the possibility of missing an instance or causing errors.
  • Secure FTP support:
  • Adobe Muse publishing now includes SFTP and FTPS support, for hosting with third-party hosting providers. With Secure FTP, if you are uploading content on an open network – such as while working at a public coffeehouse – your credentials and password for your FTP client remain encrypted and private.
  • Find and replace:
  • You can use the Find command to search for words or phrases, and choose to selectively or automatically replace text across all pages of the site, while retaining all applied styles and effects of each instance.

  • Typography:
  • Self-Hosted Web Fonts — Muse now supports self-hosted web fonts in addition to Adobe Edge Web Fonts. To use a specific font in your Muse site, you will need to install the system font (properly licensed for desktop use) and provide the corresponding web font files (properly licensed for use on a website).

  • General:
  • Paste in Place is now available from the right-click menu in design mode.
  • Added wheel/track pad support for horizontal scrolling in both Plan and Design View.

New in Adobe Muse 0.8 Build 840 Beta 7 (Mar 29, 2012)

  • Highlights:
  • There are three changes in Muse Beta 7 that may require you to take special action:
  • If you've published sites to Adobe Business Catalyst, you need to use the e-mail address for your Adobe Business Catalyst account when logging into Muse Beta 7;
  • Review and adjust the appearance of your Slideshow widgets and Composition widgets; and
  • Review and adjust the appearance of your Menu widgets.
  • Changes to your Muse publish log-in:
  • Muse Beta 7 and Adobe Business Catalyst now use a single user name and password for access to both the Muse application and the Adobe Business Catalyst Service. If you have temporary or paid sites hosted on Adobe Business Catalyst you'll need to use the same e-mail address to login to Muse Beta 7 that you use for your current Adobe Business Catalyst account. If you have multiple Business Catalyst accounts, or for some reason can't use the same e-mail address for both Muse and Business Catalyst, you can switch to use a different e-mail to login for Business Catalyst in the Preferences dialog in Muse.
  • Slideshow and Composition Widget Formatting Change:
  • Slideshow and Composition widgets have an outer "Widget" item in the Design view that encompasses all the parts of the widget. In Beta builds prior to Beta 7 it was possible to apply formatting (stroke, fill, effects, background image, etc.) directly to this outer widget item. Unfortunately, in order to address bugs related to the appearance and function of some Muse sites in Internet Explorer 7 and 8, we've found it necessary to remove this ability. If you have sites with designs that were relying on this ability, you should be able to achieve the same visual effect by either applying the formatting to a part (i.e. the hero image frame) within the widget or by formatting a rectangle and positioning it behind the widget.
  • Menu Widget Change:
  • A bug in the Menu widget has long permitted hyperlinks on individual menu items to be changed when the Menu Type was set to "Top Level Pages" or "All Pages." This was only intended to be possible for a Menu widget set to "Manual." If your site contains a "Top Level Pages" or "All Pages" menu and some of the items have had their hyperlinks manually changed, you may have noticed the Menu widget failing to update when pages were added, moved, deleted or renamed in the Plan view.
  • If your site contains Menu widgets that were set to "Top Level Pages" or "All Pages" and had hyperlinks manually altered, Muse Beta 7 may have to regenerate your menu widget as part of conversion to Beta 7 in order to insure it updates correctly going forward. In doing so, some items may be added, removed or rearranged and some formatting may be lost. You'll want to review your menu widgets for unexpected formatting changes.
  • Additionally, Muse Beta 7 replaces the "Include Page In Navigation" option for each page with a new set of "Menu Options" accessible via a context menu in the Plan mode, or in the Page Properties dialog. There are now 3 choices: "Exclude Page From Menus", "Include Page with Hyperlink" and "Include Page without Hyperlink". The "Include Page without Hyperlink" option can be used to create a menu item for a page without a hyperlink. This is useful when you have a category of pages you want to show in your menu bar, but you don't want a link to the category page itself. Also, menu items for pages marked "Include Page without Hyperlink" are allowed to have a different hyperlink manually entered, so now you can add additional links into your automatically generated menu bar by creating a placeholder page in your plan view and marking the page "Include Page without Hyperlink", then applying your own hyperlink to the resulting menu item.
  • Improved Preview/Export/Publish Performance:
  • Prior to Beta 7, during export or publish Muse would generate all the data for the site, but only write files to disk or upload files if the data for the files had changed since the previous export or publish. This minimized the time spent in the upload step of publish and only changed last modified dates during export for files that really changed, but it still required all the data for all the pages to be regenerated every time.
  • In Beta 7 Muse tracks what pages have been changed internally and only generates the data associated with a page during Preview, Export or Publish if the page has changed since it was last Previewed, Exported or Published. This makes re-publishing, re-exporting or previewing after a small change much quicker for most sites.
  • Improved JPEG and PNG Encoding Performance:
  • We've replaced the JPEG encoding and PNG encoding library used by Muse. The new library is higher quality and roughly 3 times faster at encoding PNG images and 30 times faster at encoding JPEG images. This improvement in encoding performance translates to better performance during Preview, Export and Publish, faster import of large images and improved performance during some other image operations.
  • Faster Save and Close Performance:
  • The time it takes to Save a Muse file is now proportional to the amount of data that's been changed since the last Save. If you make a small change to a very large site and hit Save, the Save operation is now nearly instantaneous. The performance of Save As is unchanged.
  • In prior Beta builds Close did an extensive check of the document before allowing the close to complete. This check has been removed. Close is now nearly instantaneous.
  • Size of Exported CSS Reduced:
  • Muse now outputs the CSS for each master page just once and shares CSS across pages with the same master page applied. This reduces the amount of CSS generated and improves web page load times.
  • Publish Workflow Streamlined:
  • The process of publishing a new temporary site on Adobe Business Catalyst is now as simple as:
  • Click "Publish";
  • Name your site; and
  • Click OK.
  • Give it a try. Even if you don't plan to host your final site on Adobe Business Catalyst, the 30-day temporary sites are still a great way to test out your ideas and make sites available to others for review.
  • Streamlined Site Management:
  • We've added a "Manage" item to the top level list of tasks/modes in Muse—Plan, Design, Preview, Publish and Manage. Once a temporary site is published, the Manage option will take you to the Adobe Business Catalyst Administrator Console for your site. From the Admin Console you can upgrade your temporary site to paid, add domains, add additional administrators, view analytics reports and more.
  • Improved Assets Panel:
  • We've flattened the entries in the panel. When there's only one use of a file in the site, there's now only one line for that file in the Assets panel. We added 2 new status icons to indicate whether an image is used at a size larger than the data in the Muse file (and whether or not Muse could get more data from the original file). We added a warning to the Link Status dialog displayed on Open and Publish/Export to warn about upsampled images (those that have been resized larger than their original size) since they may appear pixelated in the browser. And we added the ability to sort the entries in the Assets panel by clicking on the column headers.
  • Additional States on Widget Parts:
  • Beta 7 adds support for States on some additional widget parts (i.e. the first, previous, next and last buttons, captions and the close box) enabling more styling and effects.
