  • PCMark 10 Professional Edition:
  • The PCMark 10 Video Battery Life test is now compatible with the latest version of the Microsoft Movies & TV (U.S.) and Microsoft Film & TV (ROW) applications.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Microsoft Word test in the PCMark 10 Applications benchmark to fail with a "command not available" error.

  • Adobe Applications benchmark:
  • Adobe Applications benchmark has been updated to version 2.0. Scores should not be compared with earlier versions.
  • The After Effects test output has been changed to uncompressed AVI format as Adobe CC no longer supports output to compressed Windows Media Video format.
  • Use Compatibility mode to compare scores with historical result data, (also requires an older version of Adobe software that supports Windows Media Video).
  • Storage benchmark:
  • The Storage and Expanded Storage benchmarks have been updated to version 2.0. Scores should not be compared with earlier versions.
  • The tests now provide better support for NVMe drives. Scores from NVMe drives will improve in some cases. The faster the drive, the bigger the difference. Other types of drive are unaffected.
  • Improved:
  • General stability and error handling has been improved.
  • SystemInfo module updated to 4.41 for improved hardware compatibility.
  • Fixed:
  • Video Chat test now works even when there is no audio device in the system.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause PCMark 8 to crash when the SystemInfo module failed.
  • Fixed several issues found on non-English language Windows installations.
  • Professional Edition only:
  • Command line now offers temp path selection.
  • XML output now shows battery life in minutes not seconds for more intuitive results.

  • In addition to the standard result, PCMark 7 Storage tests now report additional "raw" results where the metric idle values have been excluded from the score calculation.
  • New troubleshooting option for hardware acceleration of video transcoding - "Enable hardware accelerated video transcoding" checkbox on the Help tab.

  • Compatibility:
  • Now fully compatible with Windows 8.
  • The Web Browsing test has been completely rewritten to avoid compatibility issues with Windows 8. The previous implementation was based on Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), the new one is a Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) application. The heavy lifting in the test is still done by the WebBrowser2 control. Benchmark scores are affected, in most cases going up by a few percent.
  • SystemInfo updated to version 4.15 for Windows 8 compatibility.
  • Bug fixes:
  • Fixed issues in video transcoding tests and added transcoding output file validation. These changes affect benchmark scores.
  • Fixed a data compressibility bug in the storage workloads. Benchmark scores are affected in configurations that use data compression at the hardware level.
