ON1 Effects Changelog

What's new in ON1 Effects 2022 (16.0.1.11291)

Oct 22, 2021
  • What’s New:
  • Non-Destructive Layers — We have added the power of Layers to Effects. Now you can duplicate the current photo as layers, or combine multiple photos into a single, non-destructive layered photo. Perfect for swapping heads, replacing skies, etc.
  • Retooled Export — We took over 100 suggestions from our users and have rebuilt Export from the ground up. It is the most powerful export and image converter you can imagine. First, presets are more powerful. You can run them right from the file menu and you can run more than one simultaneously. There are more options for everything. In File Type, you can now create DNGs or export copies of the original. The file renaming is infinitely flexible as is the creation of destinations. You can now use multiple watermarks at the same time and use text or graphics for them. Resizing is more powerful and flexible than ever. And finally, you have control over what metadata is written to exported files. There’s so much more in Export, you just have to try it to see everything it can do now.
  • Line Mask Tool — The line mask tool is back and more powerful than ever. Similar to a polygonal lasso or pen tool, it can quickly create masks using straight lines. But it’s much more than that. You can now curve the lines, add and remove points, or change the feather and opacity of the shapes you create anytime, even after creation. They are completely non-destructive and work hand-in-hand with the other powerful masking tools in ON1 Photo RAW.
  • Apple Silicon Native — ON1 Effects now runs natively on Apple Silicon-based macOS computers. This allows you to take full advantage of the amazing speed of these next-generation Macs.
  • Gestures — Zooming, panning, and changing photos is more natural with a smooth, animated experience, with full gesture support on macOS trackpads and Windows tablet computers. Note older windows trackpads may not be supported.
  • Support for New Cameras — Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 II, FujiFilm X-E4, Pentax K-3 Mark III, Canon EOS M50 Mk II, Sony a7r IVa, Nikon Z fc, Sony ZV-E10, Sony A7R IIIa, Sony ZV-E10, Panasonic GX880.
  • Support for New Lenses — Canon RF85mm F1.2L USM, Tamron E 17-28mm F2.8-2.8, Tamron E 17-70mm F2.8 B070, TamronE 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 A071, Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (A041), Tokina 17mm f/3.5 RMC II.
  • Other Bug Fixes and Improvements.

New in ON1 Effects 2021.5 (Jul 12, 2021)

  • Re-editable Smart Photos for Adobe® Lightroom® Classic — Now you can re-edit your adjustments made in ON1 Effects, maintaining your non-destructive workflow with Adobe Lightroom Classic. From Lightroom, you can send photos to ON1 Effects, where you can retouch, crop, and add effects. The results roundtrip back to Lightroom as a normal Photoshop PSD where you can view and export them. If you want to adjust your settings made in ON1 Effects, simply send it back to Effects and all your settings are still there. You can re-crop, change the retouching, or add or change filters.
  • Batch Processing for Adobe® Lightroom® Classic — Now you can batch-process photos from Lightroom Classic with ON1 Effects. You control the file types created and the settings to apply. It could be a preset or your own manual adjustments. You can adjust the first photo, and have the same settings applied to all the other photos, or pause on each photo to tweak the settings to your needs.
  • Customize Keyboard Shortcuts — The new Shortcuts dialog allows you to view and change what keyboard shortcut, or hotkey, is used for most functions. You can change the key used to access any tool, tool option, module, or menu item. You can even assign shortcuts to menu items that don’t have a shortcut yet. It’s perfect if you live in a locale that doesn’t use the QWERTY keyboard layout.
  • Learning Hub — The Learning Hub puts the information you need to be successful right at your fingertips. This floating window lets you access the video library, user guides, support pages, and loyalty rewards from right inside the app.
  • New Cameras for RAW Support — Fujifilm GFX-100S, Sony Alpha 1, Sigma mp L.
