Surfulater Changelog

What's new in Surfulater 3.42.0.0

Oct 17, 2011
  • This release updates the Surfulater Firefox Extension to work with Firefox Version 5. It also includes some minor updates to Surfulater.

New in Surfulater 3.16.0.13 (Sep 1, 2009)

  • Not a lot to say other than this release fixes a particularly nasty crash that has been in Surfulater since Tagging was added in Version 3.0. Thanks to Nick Kneen this finally came to light a week and a bit back and has now been fixed. This release also gets Ctrl+V, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X etc. working again when editing items in the Knowledge Tree.

New in Surfulater 3.16.0.12 (Sep 1, 2009)

  • This update improves the useability of the new Knowledge Tree Filter as well as addressing some issues with it and a few other bug fixes.

New in Surfulater 3.16.0.0 (Sep 1, 2009)

  • Two major new features; Knowledge Tree Filtering and HTML item display in the Knowledge Tree form the basis of this release. In addition various bugs have been fixed and performance has been improved in some areas.

New in Surfulater 3.15.0.10 (May 14, 2009)

  • Hot on the heals of the V3.15.0.0 release this update addresses an issue in Surfulater V3.15.0.0 and some other older issues which have just been reported. I’ve also put the DBGHelp.DLL back into the Install package so people still using Windows 2000 won’t have a hiccup.
  • Major new release with Jump to Tags, Set Text Color, Set Title to Selection, Web Search, Show Folder Breadcrumbs, Drag & Drop Content, Improved Editing and major Code updates and bug fixes.

New in Surfulater 3.15.0.0 (Apr 29, 2009)

  • This is another milestone release with major changes to the Surfulater code base to bring it in line with the latest Microsoft Development tools, in particular MS Visual Studio 2008 and the latest C++ Compiler. This makes Surfulater more robust and enables us to use the latest Microsoft technologies as we move forward.
  • Substantial changes to the way the Surfulater code is packaged. In particular seven DLL’s have been completely removed and two more have been taken out of the Installation package. This code refactoring and repackaging removes problems caused by wrong versions of DLL’s and moves us closer to the possibility of a single .EXE file, potentially without any need for an Installer. Further it helps pave the way for a Portable USB Stick version of Surfulater. And finally it reduces the size of the Installer download file from 7.79MB to 5.67MB and the installed code footprint from 16.347MB down to 12.68MB. Substantial effort has gone into this, taking up much of our development time since the last release.
  • That is all below the surface, but there are good things happening above ground as well.
  • The most visual change in this release is how Tags are displayed in articles.

  • Of course there is more; drag & drop can now be used during content editing to move text and images, and Copy and Paste as reciprocal ‘See also’ links can now be used in the Tags and Chronological Knowledge Tree views.

New in Surfulater 3.00 Build 0.14 (Oct 30, 2008)

  • Web page thumbnails captured using Firefox no longer include the entire Web Browser window, just the web page.
  • Capturing content from Firefox, when Surfulater isn't already running, now works correctly again. This only worked some of the time for some people. The Web page thumbnail is now also correct. This issue is only applicable to V3 and the new V3 Firefox Extension.
  • A bug introduced in V3.0 where copying articles from one Knowledge Base to another would not copy Attachments correctly has been fixed. If you have copied articles with attachments across KB's, delete the copies and copy them again.
  • Surfulater now minimizes to the System Tray when a Skinned UI Theme such as Obsidian is used.

New in Surfulater 2.50.0.0 (Dec 20, 2007)

  • This release enables you to Publish Surfulater content so that it can be viewed anywhere you have a Web Browser and shared with colleagues and friends

New in Surfulater 2.00.20.0 (May 30, 2007)

  • The prime enhancements in this release revolve around the ability to reorder content in the Knowledge Tree using a new Advanced Article Sort, along with the ability to change the Date Created for Articles. Advanced sort enables you to sort the entire Knowledge Tree, or a Folder and optionally its sub-folders. Sorting can be done by Article Title or Date Created, in either ascending or descending order.
